[2021] Cannot play Elite Dangerous

So I tried booting up elite dangerous in steam, I bought the game back in 2019 and decided to play it now. I open the game, thus opening the launcher, and I get the message "Update Required", which is followed by some nonse instructions to make sure the game is up to date. I look up a solution and it claims that I have to open the launcher from the in game files. I did open it and then it tells me to log in, I log in with my frontier account which is linked to Steam and then I get the message that I don't have Elite Dangerous purchased. I have been trying to fix this for 3 hours and nothing seems to fix it.

I am rethinking of removing the game from account altogether and rebuying it on steam, but come on.
