[2022] Quest 2 + Epic launcher

Does anyone play Quest 2 VR on Epic launcher version of the game?

It always starts the Steam VR app everytime I launch via Epic launcher and says can't find headset (because it's normally turned off). Today I actually turned on my HMD and logged into virtual desktop prior to running the game but in Steam VR it just says it's launching but doesn't seem to actually launch in the HMD when the game starts.

Do I just have to wait longer or is there some other trick to it?
