[2023] Very weird FPS issue involving dual monitors

I play on a laptop, MSI GP66 LEOPARD 11UG-018, and am having a very bizarre issue. I have a dual monitor setup with an external monitor and the laptop screen. If I use both screens (monitor is the 2ndary but I use it as primary) everything is fine, smooth FPS no drops whatsoever highest graphics settings everything is good, the same if I change to the laptop screen only with the monitor off, but as soon as I use the monitor only with the laptop screen off (which I do to just save power and such when I don't need it) the FPS drops significantly with stutter whenever I'm moving around.

I tried the simple thing and updated the driver but no dice on a fix. Other then that I have no idea what to do next, I've never had this problem with other games and I've got smoke coming out my ears cause my brain is like this makes no sense?

Didn't know if anyone else has run into this or if it's a known issue with ED, it happens with both Horizons and Odyssey.
