Linking forum accounts to game accounts
Dear Humans and Elves,
To join the Elvenar forums, it has always been necessary to have a game account with a validated email address, and the forum account would always have the same name as the game account it was registered through. But, other than that one-time registration, there was no link between a forum- and game account, causing changes to the game account (e.g. change of name or e-mail address) to not be reflected for the forum account. From today on, we will change that. We will start sending messages via our @InnoGames account on the forums, in which we will ask you to link your forum account to your game account and provide you with the steps to do so.
In the vast majority of cases, it should be as simple as confirming you are the owner of the game account by clicking the link and logging in once, and our systems will do the rest. If your desired forum account and game account have different names because at any point your name was changed, or you used a secondary account on the forums, you may be asked to confirm the name change of the forum account to match the in-game name.
This feature will help you keep access to your forum account, also in case you lose the password, because the forum will now always rely on the email that your game account is registered to, rather than a separate system that could easily become outdated if an email address changed. It will also allow us to correctly remove (very) old, inactive accounts if the game accounts are deleted, without leaving abandoned forum accounts in our systems. Forum accounts not linked to an active game account after 30 days will be flagged for deletion. Forum accounts that have been inactive for more than a year and have a post count lower than 10 will be deleted without further notice.
