264s um so yeah no worries on that front I
266s know that there's going to be a couple
267s of Rockfish employees sneaking in from
269s time to time so just wave hello whenever

272s but otherwise uh yeah we've had kind of
275s an exciting week here at Rockfish
278s actually a couple an exciting month
279s already
280s um which I guess is mostly just this
282s week anyway my point is is that we've
284s been making great progress with our free
287s content update that is planned for the
290s end of this year
292s um and yeah we're also making solid
294s progress on making sure that console
296s released this month oh oh my gosh it's
299s like a it's like two weeks away a week
301s and a half away wow
303s wow we are getting close
306s we are getting all things in order which
308s is very much unlike my ship right now in
311s our last combat encounter we got a bunch
312s of things completely busted up including
315s our sensors both Umbra and penumbra that
317s is actual pain goodness gravy um We are
321s continuing right where we left off which
323s is in the depths of this gas Harvester
327s so uh that's gonna be that's gonna be
329s fun through the course of the stream we
331s are playing nightmare difficulty this is
334s the hardest difficulty for those of you
335s who haven't seen it uh basically it's
338s this right here that that's it that
340s that's what it looks like it says
342s nightmare
344s um and yeah this is unlocked once you
347s complete the game once and you can
351s change your game to it at basically any
353s given time so you don't have to replay
354s the game if you don't want to I
356s personally really have been enjoying
357s this experience which has started a new
360s game at nightmare difficulty the odds
365s are much less in your favor on all
368s accounts things are much more
369s challenging but there is a new chance to
372s drop legendaries across the entirety of
375s the game we haven't seen it happen yet
376s uh but that's also because we've only
378s reached level 15. so the odds are slowly
382s increasing
383s still probably not going to happen but
385s we can be hopeful right we can be
388s hopeful through the course of this we're
390s also going to be highlighting various
391s new item attributes some of which were
394s teased somewhat recently but I'm going
396s to be doing a little bit more of a deep
398s dive of those today as well as speaking
401s on why we're adding them in the first
403s place we've seen just a couple of
405s comments out there of saying like oh
406s well why why are you adding this it
408s could dilute the pool in a way that
410s nobody cares and it's going to take away
412s possibilities blah blah no no we
413s actually have pretty sound reasons why
415s we want to do this and also why it is
417s going to be free so uh ask those
420s questions as they come through this
421s process and it's going to be a Merry Old
424s Time so to kick things off we're looking
426s at this Prime zapper we did collect it
427s last time and it has two particular item
430s attributes I wanted to bring up
432s right out of the gate and this first one
435s I believe we addressed a couple of weeks
437s ago but let's just bring it home we have
439s a completely sound bonus of 20 against
443s specific Targets in this case Outlaws
447s this is a completely new item attribute
450s which can generate on almost everything
453s so
454s um and when I say everything mainly
456s weapons it's not going to be on modules
457s because your Shields aren't going to be
459s doing any damage to Outlaws anytime soon
462s um so with them being applied to your
465s weapons there are a number of different
467s targets that can have increased damage
469s to them but there will only ever be one
472s attribute capable of this so you might
475s get one that says against Outlaws
476s another one that says Capital ships but
479s it would replace the Outlaws or another
481s one that says against turrets but that
482s would replace the capital ships like you
484s can only have one at a time you can't
486s have plus 20 damage to Outlaws and
488s capital ships and turrets etc etc only
491s one slot will be able to take that over
493s and there's a couple of reasons why we
495s are doing this one so that if you have a
497s very focused build and you want to build
500s it out even further and maximize your
502s damage output because I think that's
503s what a lot of people like to do and
505s looter shooter games in general you can
507s find that particular item that
510s particular attribute
512s and really succeed with it and because
514s it's only taking up one slot that means
516s your other slots can be satisfied with
518s other particular attributes that you
521s desire
522s we're also taking this notion into
524s account as we go through all of our
526s modules as well you know that modules
529s being each one of these pieces right we
531s have the energy core we have the shield
532s we have the plate in the sensor booster
534s cargo unit all of these are considered
535s modules on your ship and their
538s attributes talks about it quite a lot
540s their attributes are mostly going to
542s focus in on your ship bound attributes
545s as opposed to just an item bound
546s attribute
548s so that's going to be your Firepower
549s Precision structure utility resistance
551s and expertise okay
555s even still those other attributes that
558s they will be generating on top of that
559s can add some
561s specification to the build that you are
564s going for and once we get to that part
567s we are going to start talking about it
568s this is a this is a bad example since
570s this was generated last time this cannot
572s generate anymore so
574s seeing thus how has the Double Deals 20
577s damage this is not something that we are
579s aiming for this is going to be removed
580s so I'm just going to literally remove it

647s shield itself this is actually a pretty
649s good Shield aside from the fact that
651s it's a speed word so I have to be
652s boosting for it to recharge
654s but it's tempting those are some nice

756s energized boost that can truly maximize
758s a lot of damage without using collision
761s damage mind you because it's just in the
763s area around your ship so it actually
765s ends up being a lot more effective and
767s more fun because your ship hitbox is
769s surprisingly small and it can be hard to
771s Ram into another ship if that's what
773s you're trying to do but energized boost
776s says you know what let's have a little
777s bit of range around us and just scoop it
779s all together and it's pretty satisfying

1164s gameplay altering elements as opposed to
1167s just Aesthetics
1169s but speaking of Aesthetics because you
1171s asked the question we are making a
1173s progress on new tier four ships
1179s so that'll be something
1181s to talk about hopefully sooner than

1253s this ice cold planet called Gilbert yeah
1256s we we know we know we we've experienced
1259s it ourselves and it sucks uh still
1261s looking for new ways to optimize
1264s um and based on the reports that we've
1266s been getting I also just want to give a
1267s little shout out to you guys
1269s um thank you by the way for those of you
1271s who are giving us reports on your
1273s slowdowns at these locations we are
1275s discovering some parallels with certain
1278s features that are available say on Steam
1281s but aren't on say Game Pass and we are
1284s working to correct those we do want to
1285s have 100 Purity between Steam and Game
1288s Pass
1289s um as we've mentioned in the past there
1290s have been a number of uh challenges to
1294s bring that forward but rest assured we
1297s are looking into what can be done and
1300s hopefully there will be progress on that

1622s adding entirely new ships to the game
1624s because that's not what we are doing
1626s that is not what the plan of attack is
1632s but new Wings which would generate a new
1635s subclass for certain ships namely the
1638s lights and the Heavies are something
1639s that we are looking into something that
1641s we would like to try and expand a bit
1642s further since as of right now as most of
1646s you know
1647s the uh the medium weights the
1652s Interceptor The Sentinel and the striker
1656s all end up having four different wings
1659s so they have four different subclasses
1660s each whereas the lightweights and the
1663s heavyweights don't in fact all the
1666s lightweights and heavy weights only have
1668s two subclasses each
1678s all right and oh that's the busted one
1680s and now we need to do this one

1759s units with a higher level than your own
1760s are the feeling we're going to be
1761s encountering that a bit as we continue
1764s navigating through zarkov here
1766s and it also does bonus damage against
1769s Capital ships so man I do love I do love
1774s our combo here with Umbra and penumbra
1777s so I think we're just gonna hold it for
1780s a moment
1781s but we do have this equalizer which is
1783s painted green because it could be used
1785s with Alec
1788s this one has oops this one has 22
1791s increased energy recharge rate for each
1793s enemy within 500 meters

1806s an attribute that I would feel a bit
1808s better about if we were flying a striker

1817s percent energy damage bypasses the armor

1821s I love how this Flack is actually
1823s better than penumbra and you'll see this
1826s in our design philosophy with the sets

1831s we don't want set items to just be
1833s better variations in fact in a lot of
1835s cases we want them to be worse because
1838s for example this flat Cannon by itself
1840s is just inherently better than a
1842s penumbra right of course but when you
1846s are pairing the penumbra
1847s accordingly with its buddy over here the
1850s Umbra
1851s now suddenly it's better because it's
1853s got that 30 damage increase for its
1856s usage right

1859s to set items as a whole you're going to
1860s see more item variants that's going to
1862s be in the future
1864s but that's the mentality we have we want
1866s them to exist
1868s kind of poorly until you start slapping
1871s them together with synergetic benefits

1879s benefit if you pair them together
1885s and it's through that it was there grab

1912s drones but we are going to be doing a
1913s little bit to gather some new items talk
1915s about new item attributes along the way

1924s can when they show up and I do see a

1928s so let me just take a quick breather and
1931s answer a couple questions that I see so
1933s um the question comes from beard frog on
1934s YouTube does the eight percent bonus to
1936s kinetic damage uh apply before or after
1938s Firepower bonus is it additive or
1940s multiplicative maths oh my gosh I love
1943s this so much
1944s um if I am not mistaken and I haven't
1947s done the uh perfect crunch of all of
1951s these values at this time I would have
1953s to ask Hans Christian
1955s but as to my understanding that these
1957s values are applied to the base value of
1960s what's being offered and then that's
1962s multiplied by the Firepower
1965s so anything that you see on the items
1967s that's its base and then it's multiplied
1970s the attributes are Multiplied on top of
1973s those bases so items first whatever you
1976s see on items first and then attributes
1978s multiply on top of that

1986s um I think I saw another question uh
1989s making sure that I didn't miss anything
1990s looks like
1993s I missed quite a few questions oh

1998s will there be any keyboard and mouse
1999s compatibility on the Xbox no Jambo that

2005s process actually and we are steering

2017s opposed to if we were trying to generate
2018s that it'd be back in the hold for a few

2032s uh regarding item naming conventions is
2035s there a reason why you chose to give
2036s items generic names like why the pulse
2039s lays are always called pulse laser no
2040s matter what Rarity instead of giving
2042s each item of a specific type A Unique
2044s name based on the Rarity there's not
2046s really anything too crazy regarding that
2048s the main thing is that overall with the
2052s primaries we wanted to have the naming
2054s conventions just to give you a strong
2056s idea of how the item operates so when
2059s you see pulse laser where you hear pulse
2061s laser type you know that it's going to
2063s be an energy bound pew pew weapon right
2066s like when you hear railgun immediately
2069s you know exactly where that's going as
2071s opposed to when you have item variance
2073s right so you have like the Umbra well
2076s you don't just talk like you know that
2079s the Umbra is a blaster so it refers to
2081s the Blaster type and you know what a
2083s blaster does right so that's sort of the
2086s name convention means to an end here is
2089s that we have the types that all have the
2091s generic name and then you have the
2092s variance which have their sort of
2094s customized this belongs in a set or this
2096s belongs to a corporation or this belongs
2097s you know it's something else while still
2099s being identified as that type so you as
2102s a player understands what it's going to
2104s be more or less similar to right
2108s and of course there can be some types of
2110s variety from the variants that can make
2114s the item shift its usage a little bit
2116s but that's also something just to be
2118s explored when you're going that route so
2119s good question I'm going to answer a
2121s couple more here and then we're going to
2122s dive back into some gameplay and
2123s hopefully get some more item modifiers
2125s to check out or attributes to check out

2145s in hyperspace uh just because the we
2147s wanted the super light engine to be
2148s consistent always so it's always going

2157s know own specific colors not we didn't
2158s want to do that we actually wanted it to
2160s be always blue and super light to make
2163s sure that you as a player knows you are
2165s specifically on super light it's just
2167s it's that distinguishing Factor the
2169s engines turn this color when you're in
2171s this mode sort of thing

2176s uh love the colorblind options they
2180s alter the entire world's visual
2182s appearance would it be possible in the
2184s future to adjust these settings on the
2185s HUD only
2187s hmm that is a curious question I don't
2189s believe that is actually possible though

2193s um but I can at least bounce that over
2196s to the rest of our team and
2199s pick their brains on it I know that
2201s regarding everspace one what you're
2203s asking for is actually what we did and
2205s then there were ramifications for that
2206s because we did that there were we had
2209s colorblind issues saying like well this
2211s is nice but it doesn't really have much
2213s of an impact because the game State
2215s remains consistent so things can still
2217s get lost so
2219s um yeah it's I think it's
2222s it's
2224s apples to oranges really um having both
2226s options means that we're just gonna have
2228s to do basically twice as much uh work
2231s output for that situation
2234s um and I'm not sure if that's really a
2236s priority
2237s unless you feel and we saw a large
2241s outpouring from our colorblind Community
2244s uh saying that what we are currently
2246s doing doesn't work in which case I
2249s highly encourage you to make a post up
2250s on Steam
2252s um you know talk about it amongst your
2253s friends and see if that can generate any
2256s noise because if it really is bad
2259s then we'll address it but as of right
2262s now we're pretty happy with the results

2273s switch version oh you're gonna have to
2275s convince a uh the the CEO himself uh for

2292s but who knows there's rumors abound

2295s a switch to or whatever I think I've
2298s seen that a little bit online
2299s um haven't heard about anything on that
2301s front elsewhere though so I have no idea
2304s what that would even look like or even
2307s if it's possible for like everspace too
2310s that might be like future projects maybe
2312s but uh no there's no way that everspace
2315s 2 is going to be coming to the Nintendo
2317s switch
2320s um people are pointing out the steam
2322s deck that's very true the steam deck
2324s does in fact exist and we are working
2325s still to optimize it on that front as

3366s um as a point alongside these additions
3369s and something that I think would make a
3371s lot of sense we do have these uh
3374s receives bonuses from across the
3376s attributes for example and so this is a
3378s really good way of knowing what's
3380s impacting what
3382s to add more stats to these as sort of
3387s the culmination of your entire damage
3391s output for example we would have to
3393s break into even more separate sort of
3397s orders sort of structures so for example
3399s like your Firepower alone just shows
3401s your kinetic damage and your energy
3402s damage and if we wanted to have a very
3405s specific one just for kinetic damage
3407s alone and then a very specific one for
3408s energy damage and that also be dependent
3410s on what weapon you're using or what set
3412s you're using or what legendary you're
3414s using or what modifiers you're in place
3416s you can already tell that things are
3418s getting rather overwhelming just for
3419s separating out two different things like
3422s kinetic and energy and while we
3425s internally agree that something like
3426s that would be a powerful resource for
3429s the player base we also don't think that
3432s it's going to add that much
3435s accessibility overall
3438s most times when a looter shooter is
3442s being played
3443s the vast majority of the player base is
3446s just going to go oh it's green there I'm
3449s gonna equip that because it's green and
3451s then there's going to be a little bit of
3452s that decision making process you know of
3454s noticing that this bypasses armor or
3458s this has increased damage against units
3460s with a higher level or this one has four
3462s increased primary weapon damage you know
3464s etc etc
3466s but unfortunately the impact that the
3469s workload of what would be required on
3473s that back end to get all of these
3474s details again we would love to do it the
3477s workload just doesn't satisfy the lack
3480s of Desire or assistance it would
3481s ultimately provide the vast majority of
3484s the player base now that being said of
3487s course we still want to Aid players with
3490s those extra details it's actually why we
3493s are including this toggle now for the um
3498s show detailed weapon stats right here
3500s like the big reason why we out of that
3502s is because we figured that's a partial
3504s solution to an issue where you can see
3506s more of like the the item's velocity the
3510s spread
3510s um you know elements like that um on
3512s certain ones like you have the

3517s getting a lot more data from just
3519s toggling that if you want it as opposed

4454s and we want it to be better we want more
4456s emphasis to be involved in this looter
4459s shooter side of everspace 2. now again

4474s late game thrives on bettering yourself
4477s and perfecting your builds and all those

4485s there who's just been continuing to pour
4486s your heart and your soul into our
4488s experience showcase these ridiculous
4490s high level pieces of gameplay

4497s are going to shape and change new
4499s directions that you'll be able to take
4500s that you otherwise weren't able to do

4505s cooldown is no small value when we're
4507s looking at utility which granted it's a
4510s low value here right now but this is
4512s only at minus 10 percent

4519s this is basically a 50 increase to your

4569s kind of interested in doing this one
4571s with like a sentinel where its ultimate

4576s Shield that also explodes with EMP

4583s start chaining these things together to
4585s expand your particular build that truly
4589s does look different from the next one
4591s because this variety that's taking place
4593s has meaningful interactions with how
4596s you're approaching the game not just
4599s again not to say that the static values
4601s of increasing your attributes doesn't
4602s but here it's so much more transparent
4605s and how you are building your play style
4610s that's what we're approaching these item
4613s attributes as we want it to provide more
4616s player agency

4867s be more than that it could be a little
4869s less than that I also think that because

5472s even a rear area yeah so effectively
5475s what we have done is that every every
5478s single enemy in its hitbox basically the
5482s rear most polygons of the vessel are
5484s considered the rear of the ship so it's
5486s not necessarily the engines specifically
5489s it is quite literally anything that
5491s exists on the back side of the ship now
5495s I would need to get clarity from Hans
5497s Christian actually on if that applies to
5500s like the rear of say a destroyer because
5502s it's very large I don't know if there's
5505s a specified location there if it's even
5507s applicable so I would need to follow up
5510s on that front
5512s in fact I'm a little surprised I haven't
5513s asked that question before now I'm
5515s thinking about it but for the most part
5517s um every single one of your ships it's
5520s going to apply to that because drones
5522s almost never show their rear side

6458s procedurally generated runs that you
6461s play the game on when you start the game
6463s you start from sector one always you'll
6467s fight your way through to sector two
6469s sector 3 sector 4 until you die or you
6472s make it and once you complete it you are
6474s rewarded with a high score
6477s when you uh whenever you try again you
6481s will restart from sector one if you're
6483s doing the more story-centric mode of the
6485s game there is permanent meta progression
6487s so that looks like unlocking the new
6489s ship or unlocking more device slots for
6492s a ship or enhancing your map so you can
6494s see more opportunities as you're
6496s progressing through
6498s etc etc
6499s and there's also a hardcore mode which
6501s is a little bit closer to a rogue-like
6503s experience not much more the minutia
6507s here is is terribly hard to to describe

6512s short of it is that in hardcore you
6514s start with no meta progression
6516s whatsoever no perks are unlocked aside
6518s from some generic ones to just make the
6521s process easier and every time you start
6523s hardcore you have to build your perks

6530s seen like players reaching back into
6532s everspace and playing that over and over

7119s Carefree is going to do the damage based
7121s on the Nano transmitter amount
7125s right so it's not that it's like
7129s stacking there are two different
7131s instances that can happen at the same
7133s time if that makes sense so one's not
7136s getting multiplied by the other they're
7137s both simply happening and they can
7139s trigger based off the same shot
7144s also with a new set bonus we are getting
7146s in the future which gives us reflect
7147s damage when picking up energy orbs
7149s contribute towards the self-healing that
7151s should actually work yeah so the
7153s intentionality of that particular set
7155s item is that the reflect damage that it
7159s applies is going to be in addition to
7161s any other reflect damage you've stacked
7163s so if you're using say retaliation and
7166s then you also have that set you're going
7168s to add those percentages together so I
7171s am currently blanking on how much
7173s retaliation is is it 40 is it 30 but
7176s then one of the items in the the set
7178s that you're talking about is 10 while
7181s boosting right 10 reflection while
7184s boosting so you would take 30 plus 10 so
7186s you'd have 40 as opposed to 33 because
7189s you're doing 10 of 30 does that make
7192s sense
