Everspace 2 has some great mechanics and some nice looking builds, biggest downside is that it will take you hundreds of hours to get something complete and of decent rarity. Rewards from locations which give you unique sets, even at nightmare difficulty, are bad. If you do fortunately get some kind of rare the likelihood of it being the type you wanted is minuscule.

I’m really pleased they’ve added a reroll system however they’ve added a bunch of useless stats to roll on top of lots of unusable ones from before the update. The chance of you actually getting what you need and rerolling it to the stats you want are so low that you end up getting tired of the game before you make any progress. This kind of unfinished gameplay loop is exactly what most developers avoid as it tends to drive players away over time.

I love the game but completing a guaranteed legendary rift and only finding one or two unusable rares or yet another legendary that can only fit in one very specific build is just not satisfying. I really hope the developers look at the length of grind they’re expecting and fix it before they release a new update.

Great feedback thread, some good thoughts here.

I do think we're going to take another look at the re-rolling feature (which, admittedly, we're also pretty happy with). We've got more life to give ES2 through 2024's free update and premium DLC, and we aim to reach those high quality standards we set out from the start to hit.
