[2023] What are people's thoughts on the Factorio community?

I haven't kept up with the community in a while, but I've noticed that it seems like communication from the devs has been pretty non-existent recently. The last blogpost is almost half a year old, the promised DLC has failed to materialize, and the community seems to have splintered into everyone running mods that add complexity.

By the time the DLC comes out, if ever, I fear that people used to the high complexity mods are going to be bored with it quickly, while all the more casual players have long since moved on due to lack of content updates.

I hope I'm wrong, because when I did my first playthrough several years ago, this community was amazing.
