dumb question, why was it even removed?
It's not that it was removed. The current implementation does not take into account this setting(which doesn't even exist), so the current behavior is how mouse and keyboard behave without special handling.

It's been implemented for quite some time now. You need to go into Settings->Controls and select keyboard and mouse mode.
hmm, i’ve tried but didn’t get it to work. I don’t have wired though; maybe that’s why
You might need to change this setting on your Nintendo Switch: go to Settings->Controllers and Sensors-> change "Pro Controller Wired Communication" to On
