Development costs are essential to create a game that is sustainable in the future. Without any external investors, this project is entirely funded from the community by either donating to the indieGoGo back in December and all the way through to Early Access via the buy-in and Coins (Our in-game currency).
We have made amazing progress towards full release in these past few months and will continue to do so. A lot of staff members have started working full time and development has ramped up significantly. You can see our latest hires and info on this in our latest dev blog, which you can read here: https://www.playfault.com/fault-news/dev-blog-entry-3
Once we feel the game is in a good place, we will be releasing the game and yes, it will be free to play. This is penned for some time early next year. We continue to grow & improve and our Early Access period is critical to getting to that stage.
I hope this answers your question! If you have any more don't be scared to reach out!
