Fortnite Creative has a new Hub design! Learn about all the new changes and guidelines for making and submitting Hubs for featuring.
Guidelines: Hub Creator Instructions
The Fortnite Creative Hub should consist of four distinct areas:
-
Central Plaza
- This is the main spawn area and location of the Featured Island portals, Player Portals and Seasonal Portals as well top Matchmaking Portals and teleporters to the other areas.
-
Practice Games Area
- This will contain Matchmaking portals dedicated to Battle Royale end-game practice games (Boxfights, Zone Wars, etc.).
-
Combat Games Area
- This will contain Matchmaking portals dedicated to other PvP genres such as Search & Destroy, Gun Game, CTF etc.
-
Variety Games Area
- This will contain Matchmaking portals dedicated to less competitive genres such as Prop Hunt/Hide & Seek, Board Games, Party Games, Deathrun Races, etc.
Central Plaza
A closer look at the main spawn area.
- It will contain all of the usual Featured Island portals, Gold portal etc. but portals will be grouped together by type.
- The following portal types will be located throughout the hub:
- Gold Portal - this is the main portal where the party leader accesses their own creative space.
- Party Member Portals - these are the portals where other party members can access their own creative space from the Party Leader’s hub.
- Featured Island Portals - these are the standard featured portals which contain non-matchmaking islands selected by Epic.
- Seasonal Portals - these are the featured portals which contain non-matchmaking islands selected by Epic for the current season event. If there isn’t a seasonal event ongoing, these may be empty.
- Top Featured Game - this is Epic’s selected top matchmaking-enabled island for the week.
- Top Practice Game - this is the most popular matchmaking-enabled map based on the previous week’s data, in the Practice category (Boxfights, Zone Wars, 1v1’s etc.)
- Top Combat Game - this is the most popular matchmaking-enabled map based on the previous week’s data, in the Combat category (most other PvP map types - CTF, S&D, Gun Game etc.)
- Top Variety Game - this is the most popular matchmaking-enabled map based on the previous week’s data, in the Fun category (non-PvP or low-competition PvP - Prop Hunt, Party Games, Deathrun Races etc.)
- Portal Layouts:
- The Gold Portal and Party Member Portals will remain in their current position.
- Seasonal Event portals will be central in the elevated section of the map.
- Featured Island Portals will be off-centred to the right in the elevated section.
- Matchmaking Portals will be off-centred to the left in the elevated section.
- All portals and teleporters in the Central Plaza should be in the player’s eye-view at spawn. There should be no content hidden from sight or placed behind the player spawn.
- The Central Plaza should contain four Matchmaking portals and Teleporters to the other three areas.
- Three of the Matchmaking portals will contain the most popular map from their respective areas.
- These should be placed close to the respective Teleporters to give players an example of the types of map they will find in that area.
- Each pair of portal and Teleporter should be clearly labeled to show which area they belong to.
- The usual artistic rules regarding text still apply.
- Entrances to game areas must be clearly visible/accessible from spawn and cannot be gated by easter eggs or other means.
- The 4th Matchmaking portal will contain an Epic-selected map which could be from any genre, so it should be placed somewhere fairly prominent and not too far away from the Featured Island portals.
- The other 3 areas should not be visible from the Central Plaza.
- We want to try and minimize the visual noise in the Central Plaza and treat each other area as a distinct space.
- The other areas can optionally be accessible on foot from the Central Plaza, but they must all be accessible easily by Teleporter.
- They can be enclosed, sealed spaces or outdoor spaces as suits your hub.
Game Areas
- Game areas should be fairly compact and all the portals they contain should be easily visible and accessible.
- Each area should be clearly labeled with its name somewhere in the space.
- Each area should contain 8 Matchmaking portals, grouped 3, 3 and 2.
- One group of three will contain the most popular maps from the genres covered by that area.
- This group should be labeled ‘Most Popular’.
- The portals should be labeled #1-3 so players know the order of ranking for each map.
- One group of three will contain the fastest growing maps from the genres covered by that area.
- This group should be labeled ‘Fastest Growing’..
- The portals should be labeled #1-3 so players know the order of ranking for each map.
- The group of two will contain Epic-selected maps from the genres covered by that area.
- This group should be labeled ‘Featured’.
- Each area must have a clearly labeled Teleporter back to the Central Plaza, arriving in the spawn area as though the player had just spawned in.
- Optionally you can include clearly labeled Teleporters to the other two areas as well.
