Things are very shaky as of now and save the world is going through a rough patch again, pretty much all of us can agree the start of the season could've been better for save the world. I'm excited that we will know what's coming ahead of time again, but I'm also worried for it. If certain things don't get addressed, the results will definitely be something big that's not positive. In the past 7 updates, 5 of them have been content updates, which add very little to save the world. If the v10.10 update has a content update with it, that will make it 7 out of 9 updates being content updates.

Apparently 10.20 is going to be a big one, coming near the end of the month. But for me personally, if negative player behavior (specifically AFK) does not get addressed I will have no choice but to stop playing. I feel like there's very little for me to do. Hit the road is... a thing but the rewards gotten from doing it feel very lackluster, and since the insane, way-too-far wargames nerf happened I'm forced to play missions with players who will AFK or not contribute. For other players, other things like not getting twine peaks storyline or what they want will make them quit temporarily, but to me all of those things can wait, I've put up with AFK f*ckdickers for 2 years now. Not months, years. It's time for a change.

Pretty excited for the roadmap if it will finally address AFK, but at the same time worried if it doesn't happen, meaning that I wont have any reason to play this game for at least another month. Either way we wont be in the dark but tomorrow is definitely giving me "make it or break it" vibes for the near future.

Edit: Typed "AFK f*ckdickers" in a flash of anger and forgot to go back and change it to something else when I was done.

Hey there! Thank you for the write up u/PM_ME_INTERNET_SCAMS. I appreciate you taking the time to voice your concerns on this topic. I understand the frustrations regarding AFK players in your game.. we all do and It's not a great experience.. at all.

I can tell you right now that there is no mention of AFK on the roadmap. However, we are implementing a better tracking system which will help us evaluate the system in it's current state. It's going to take a little more time after this new system is implemented so we can check the overall scale across the entire game and not just what players on a specific social platform are saying. We know it's an issue, we know it's a wide scale problem, and it's not something we're ignoring. Sadly, we don't have further details to share with you all at the moment.. but hopefully in the near future.

You guys promised to improve and to deal with the problem 2 years ago, and now, 2 years later you are implementing a tracking system to evaluate the scale of the problem?
You're saying you aren't ignoring the problem and I think we all get that, but it has been 2 years and things only got worse so can you share some info on the process or your thoughts about it? I understand you can't talk about future changes or promise anything, but a little insight about what did happen can go a long way.

We introduced a new kick system that had a lot of false positives.. which wasn't great. We saw an uptick in players getting kicked who were actually participating in activities, but wrongfully removed. The biggest offender of this was the Storm King. Players were getting kicked because there may have been a situation or downtime where they weren't able to get combat / building / gathering scores. We saw this same type of issue in Frostnite.

There are several ideas that we've discussed.. and we're iterating on those ideas to see if they fit or would work. It's definitely a unique situation.. How do you action a player who is doing a side objective but not the main objective in a mission? These are considered "leechers" and quite often looped in with "AFK". If we did a vote to kick system.. how do you loop out people intentionally griefing / abusing the system to get their friends in? That doesn't feel great either. There's lots of things we're discussing in order to get the system in the right place.

Translation: "We think r/Fortnite is exaggerating this issue."

That's definitely not the case. We know it's a problem. But we need to have better tracking so that we can see the global impact.. not just what's said on reddit.
