I don't think it will ever be fixed.
Remember:

This is correct.
However, I will push these over to the team for review. Unfortunately, I can't promise any timing on fixes.. especially those with unique animations.
But what happened to: „We’ll let everyone know via the Homebase Status Report when this change will take place.“? Sure, we knew cosmetics would stop getting support at some point but the official statement said that you would let players know. I think that’s unfair. If you tell people that, then keep your word. I am certain it’s not your choice but it’s just heartbreaking to see how STW players are treated on some occasions.
This isn't the cosmetics just not functioning anymore. In this case, this is a bug. With any bug, we can't promise a timeline on fixes depending on how bad the issue. If, at any point, the cosmetics ceasing to function happens. We'll let players know.
