I know that has been reported before (by me, and many others) I thought I'd upload a video of this happening and how to fix it while in-game.
As you can see, I get knocked by the storm in a resupply mission. Once I revive, I can no longer search items as the damage tick persists. I run all the way back to the safe zone (it was a long run, so I cut that bit.) Once in the safe zone, I run back into the storm, save a survivor real quick, cause why not? Then I move on and demonstrate that you can now search in the storm without issue.
If this happens to you, you can correct it in game using this method.
