Hey Stevie, this problem has happened multiple times to me in the last few weeks. I would boot up fortnite , get into a match and as im playing early game , my game would suddenly freeze. My teammates would still be able to hear me but according to them my character had left the match. This happened twice in a row even after doing a hard pc reset. Its disappointing that we have to run into hitches like this on a regular basis with no proper address to it. :(
Thanks for the additional info. Unfortunately with situations like this logs are impossible to send since players can't report what's happening in-game during it. If you run into the issue again, feel free to make a copy of your logs after exiting Fortnite and send me a DM so I can coordinate getting those logs to the correct people (How to get your logs https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/fortnite-c75/technical-support-c118/where-can-i-find-the-fortnite-game-logs-a3209). There's no way we'll be able to solve this before S6. Hopefully it doesn't happen in S6, but if it does you can reach out to me again and I'll try and get our QA team to find a way to reproduce the issue.
Hi, just want to add personal experience for game freezes. This also happened to me quite a bit near the end of C2S4/beginning of C2S5 but then it went away. It started happening again with S6 this week.
The key problem is that when the game freezes, I can reveal the Windows taskbar, but I can't actually see any apps because the frozen FN screen blocks out everything. So opening Task Manager works in theory but I can't actually see it. Only a PC restart or logging out the user gets me back to a Desktop I can actually use.
I'll also add that, for me at least, if the game does freeze like this it's always very close to the start of a new battle royale, either I'm still on the bus or I just left the bus.
At the very least, do you have a method that will allow me to hide or background the frozen game so I can interact with the rest of Windows/kill the game task?
And I'll take note of how to send logs when/if this happens again.
Not that I know of. I'm still trying keeping an eye on the issue but the reports are low. I would try to keep the programs running whether background or not, to a minimal while playing and see if that makes a difference. I've heard from other people that sometimes this works for them.
