Over the course of Fortnite’s development, we have been lucky to have Alpha players who have been here since the very beginning. They have given us helpful feedback, played countless hours, and answered loads of questions to help other players learn more about the game.
We’d like to show our appreciation and recognize the people who have become valuable members of the Fortnite Community and are helping to shape Fortnite into being the best it can be. Haysleyez is one of those players.
“From OT1 to OT11, Hays is always a constant and always present, playing, providing feedback, and helping in any way needed… even putting Fortnite ahead of sleep,” says Executive Producer Zak Phelps. “Hays is equally good at playing as providing amazing examples from other games that would make Fortnite better. Many of the quality of life improvements have come from conversations we've had about the game. Hays is an amazing player and contributor!”
Creative Director Darren Sugg adds, “Hays has been with us since nearly the beginning, his dedication and enthusiasm for the game is nearly unparalleled. I'm glad he came to hang out with us and help!”

We’ve asked Hays about his favorite in-game content and for a few Fortnite pointers and he kindly obliged.
Flak: What should we call you?
Haysleyez: All of my friends call me Hays.
F: How long have you been playing Fortnite?
H: Since Online Test 1.
F: What made you decide to start playing?
H: An alpha invite! This game is unique in the genre of Action-building and I'm glad I gave it shot. I’ve been very happy playing since.
F: Which hero class is your favorite and why?
H: Soldier, because of the firepower and mobility.
F: Do you have any secrets you'd like to share about using the soldier?
H: When in doubt, throw grenades!
F: What is your favorite weapon so far?
H: Roomsweeper! When you absolutely have to kill every husk in the room, accept no substitutes! ;)
F: Which Husk gives you the most trouble and how do you deal with them?
H: Without a doubt, Taker. Headshots are key in taking them out.
F: Do you have any hobbies or anything you’d like to share with the community?
H: I live and breathe Fortnite! Also, It was a pleasure to meet some of the people at Epic, they are the nicest bunch of folks! Love you guys!
F: We feel the same! Is there anything you’d like to share with new players to help them as they pick up Fortnite for the first time?
H: If you have a question, ask in global, the community will be happy to help you. Also, if you play an Outlander with Keen eyes ability, you can find some secret rooms throughout the world of Fortnite.
