[2021] Can you receive battle pass rewards later after leveling up without it?

I want to get the battle pass and I have the money but it hasn't transferred to my bank account yet and won't for a few days. If I make progress and level up for a season, do I keep the battle stars and get to use them once I have the battle pass? If not, is there any way to get the rewards below my level once I do buy it?
