[2020] Epic Games launcher is garbage

I have fast download speeds. Gigabit ethernet, and a decently fast hard drive, along with multiple ssds. Anything I try and download from epic games downloads at abysmal speeds around 20mbs per minute, followed by huge gaps of the launcher just sitting there, doing nothing. Extremely frustrating, especially when I don't play fortnite often enough for me to justify keeping it updated constantly, on steam I can download a 1gb game in the time it takes the epic launcher to get to 70mb. Pathetic.
