No idea if this has been mentioned.

I believe famous moments like Jade Cove, the battle of Lockheed, and the pillaging of Ogmaran are perfect for in-game lore.

When 1.0 gets released, a LOT of players are expected. I feel like the lore should partly be decided by the player base itself, as they are who define their respective factions.

Wardens: 82dk organized zergs, jade cove, etc.

Colonials: "War crimes" organization, SIGIL operations, the colonial 5 loss streak, etc.

(Above barely covers famous events & entities, but just to name them off the top of my head)

These entities are always present on their respective sides. They are often part of the experience. Always seeing them out on the field, their famous antics, these clans operations, a famous partisan mission to set an example, etc.

They make for some pretty good war stories for a war game that lacks lore while preserving the identity of these players who have played for long times, and so those famous events like Jade cove aren't forgotten.

This also helps new players not be left out when people talk about the old days, they can easily refer to such events.

To clarify, this isn't for the sake of narcissism. I'm a nobody. I wouldn't like to see these established legends go away as they're an invaluable part of the community.

I don't want to keep rambling, but I wish I could explain it better. I guess you could describe it as I have a connection to these entities and events. They inspire me somewhat. It probably sounds too serious of a description for a game, but I just believe that this would be cool.

Matt has addressed this before: any event we instigate, cause, or participate is not going to be apart of the game lore. This all occurs after a certain transition between the lore of the world, and the actual play. They aren't going to lay a hand on any of that--it's up to folks like you, me, Presscorp, and everyone else to pitch in and make it into a history. This is our history, not the game's.

The stories of Lime, PUG, 82DK, the skirmishes on Fisherman's Row during the fall storms, the WNS bombing of Jade Cove, the destruction of Southern Saltbrook ... how in hell are the devs supposed to look at this mess of stories, banter, and perseverance, and supposed to accurately represent any of it? They can't.

And so often we've seen from other communities and games, that the devs can't do this sort of thing. From Eve Online's Fountain War to the organ, drug, and skin trade of Rimworld to the bloodstained halls of Boatmurdered, we get rich communities with histories they've created, they've documented, they've maintained, they've retold, they've remembered. I don't want the devs to meddle in this stuff. I don't want to be told what matters and what does not, because they don't get to decide just because they are the creators of the game.

The 82DK does not belong to the game, it belongs to the leaders and founders of the 82DK. PUG's legacy belongs to us who were members of it, not to Clapfoot. SIGIL belongs to it's constituent clans; FCL to it's staff; Presscorp to it's reporters; every scrap with a sketch of a hand grenade to it's author; every battle to it's participants.

EDIT: minor wording change.

Just catching up to this now. This is exactly how I feel. These are your stories. If something is important, you guys won't allow it to be forgotten. Much like real history. That's actually part of the beauty of this kind of game and I'd be doing it a disservice to get my hands in it.
