Think about it. Warden uniforms are visibly based on the WWI "Horizon Blue" uniforms used by the French, and they use Anglo-Celtic nouns and phonetics (like "Caoivish" being pronounced as "see-vish"). Colonial aesthetics are harder to pin down (seemingly a mix of American, Soviet, and German aesthetics) but they use Greco-Roman nouns (like the rank of "Legatus"). Warden propaganda emphasizes their honor and "warrior's spirit" while Colonial propaganda focuses more on their discipline and military might. The Wardens began the current set of wars to reclaim territory lost during the Great Wars, while the Colonials are trying to hold and expand that territory.
All this points to the factions being based on the Gauls (a Celtic culture that inhabited modern-day France) and the Romans (you probably know who they are already), as opposed to the usual Axis/Allies interpretation.
