[2020] Ding 80. Straight into HoT, or skip to PoF?

So I posted a few weeks ago about returning to the game and starting over from level 1 to relearn how to play.

I did it!. Dinged 80 earlier this week on my ranger, and got some nice armor drops (Zojja's chestpiece!) in one of the bonus chests during a zerg on Tequatl.

Finally *also* saw the end of the first personal story. My old group never finished it, and I'm glad they created a solo path for it.

Now. Should I skip HoT and move on to PoF, or should I adventure through that first? Is there anything mechanics-wise I'm going to lose if I move on to PoF? (besides gliders, I should go pick that up)

I mean, I heard there were a couple of play aspects that were not popular with HoT that got improved with PoF, although I'm not sure how true that is.
