What works for us may not work for you - we certainly have a lot of room for improvement too!
This is so effective as the hashtag gets recommended to users because it is on trending instead of redirecting users to the useful hashtags, thus creating a feedback loop until the algorithm promotes the next hashtag.
I keep seeing this being abused to spread false information as it "resets" the popular tweets and allows to promote anything for a significant time until normal users drown the false information.
The Twitter trending algorithm is just fundamentally flawed. Every day it promotes the use of different Coronavirus Hashtags. Today we have #COVIDー19 with a Japanese symbol as instead of a dash.
