From the beginning of the announcement of ICARUS, the New Frontiers expansion was always going to be paid for. In fact, Supporters Edition customer have already purchased the New Frontiers expansion and the Dangerous Horizons expansion. So it is actually the opposite, if we gave away the New Frontiers expansion not only would we not be able to afford that, but we would be doing a great disservice (and need to refund) all those customers who purchased it.

What we did do, was make an entire mini-expansion called "Styx", which we gave away for free to all customers who had purchased the game in it's first year.

Additionally, a free major update is coming soon as part of our regular updates (which we have done 90 of so far), that brings even more content, for free, to all parts of the game including the base game.

I understand that you are upset over the discount and/or the price of the expansion - but please note that making up details about New Frontiers not being paid for is confusing to customers and likely to cause flame wars on the forums. I'm happy to let this thread run a little bit, but I must stress that making things up that are verifiably false is really not acceptable or fair on the studio, or on the people who frequent the forums.

Here is a Rock Paper Shotgun preview:
I was told they do plan on adding DLC called "Chapters" that'll introduce new biomes, and I reckon that variety is needed.

Here is the Supporters Edition. Note it is no longer for sale, but includes the details about the chapters, which was how it was formatted on the release of the game:

ICARUS: Supporters Edition includes Icarus: First Cohort and the Styx Map & Mission Pack DLC, our Interior Decorations DLC, plus two future DLC expansions, ICARUS: New Frontiers (coming 2023) and ICARUS: Dangerous Horizons (coming 2024), which take prospectors from the familiarity of earth-like biomes into a more alien and dangerous beyond.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, Please do realize you are making some very awful claims here, and I think you should front up with the evidence of such - as you are greatly misleading people to support an argument that is not based in fact.
