It is not a rollback, I'm not sure how your version is older?
If you and your friend check the versions at the top of the application when you log in and you can compare to the versions below

No idea either, but that's what the game said when I tried to join his prospect - large letters mid-screen saying my client is older than the host's, I should update, etc.

Anyway, thanks for explaining - apparently after leaving the game Steam pushed the hotfix for him too, now we're both at the hotfix version. Sadly we forgot to check on what version he was before the hotfix. Maybe Steam messed up something, not sure...
