379s movement skill coming that I do love

397s um it puts you into uh like a a t-pose

642s that we can have we do we do have like a
645s a build pipeline that has automatic
647s testing for basically if a build is
649s gonna work or not
651s um so there's lots of things that can
652s cause builds to fail

655s and and so we have automated testing for
658s for those checks
660s but so much of it has to be checked
662s manually by a person
664s um and we are increasing the automation
665s a lot of things we're doing I think we
667s just added like automated character
668s creation uh system for testing better

678s nightly build that happens

681s to just like make sure everything solid
682s the QA checks every day that sort of

686s so if we do end up with a problem we're

1026s skills to the game can can cause other
1027s skills to become more powerful and and
1030s um or like passive changes so like it's
1032s not always a direct like Hey we're gonna
1034s buff this skill in particular
1036s um sometimes it's like an archetype that
1037s gets buffed sometimes it's
1039s um a class as a whole they get stuff you
1041s know so there's there's and there's
1042s sometimes changes that we don't even
1043s realize are gonna happen happen but we
1045s do um
1048s we do try and bring the ones that are
1050s severely underperforming back into the
1052s realm of fun
1056s um I don't I don't have any specific
1058s balance changes that I can share with

1301s if that makes any sense so most of the
1303s glyphs are affecting

1308s and uh or if they Factor they affect
1311s basically all the runes or most of them
1313s anyways
1314s and that's kind of the general thing we
1316s try and do it doesn't always work that
1318s way

1325s because it's yeah like it's basically
1327s just like a stronger version of that
1328s Rune by having two items to combine
1331s together and then then you kind of you
1332s end up in a weird situation where you
1334s feel like you don't want to even try and
1336s use that rune at all unless you have the
1339s corresponding glyph to go with it and
1341s then if you get glyphs if you get those
1343s glyphs without that Rune then they're
1345s just useless on like they're just
1346s completely useless without that Rune
1348s specifically

1352s so if we had a more generic way to do it
1354s which we which we could you could you
1355s could make that a little bit more
1356s generic to apply to more runes
1358s simultaneously I think that would be the
1360s way we would try and do it
1363s if we were gonna do something like that

1999s uh fortnite uh it's it's it's sending

2007s um and so like there's there's some time
2009s travel mechanics in combat there uh
2011s there's other skills we've concepted for
2014s future masteries that might also have
2016s some time implications in combat
2019s um
2021s and that's that's pretty far away though

2029s not just to be clear not for the ones
2031s that are coming
2034s uh
2035s coming up next
2037s and um
2040s as as for like quests that involve time
2043s shop mechanics yeah there's there's also
2045s the
2046s um a study in time Quest
2049s uh in chapter three I want to say that's
2051s that's pretty cool maybe chapter four
2052s that's I I'm a big fan of and I think we
2055s I think we kind of always wanted to do
2057s more stuff like that and there's been a
2059s bit of a
2061s like there's so many other things to do
2063s to get really com more complex quests
2065s like that in but um
2068s I'd be surprised if more don't find
2069s their way in at some point

2075s I think there's also lots of room for
2076s like more dungeon mechanics in the
2078s future so yeah like the the one of the
2081s core underline like if you're gonna talk
2082s like pick five words to describe the
2084s themes in last Epoch time travel is is
2087s is is one of the first that comes to
2089s mind for sure and having that
2092s um be more prominent I think is is a
2094s goal for us
2104s why is your game so much better than D4
2106s well first off thank you for the
2108s compliment I appreciate that it's
2109s wonderful

2111s I'm gonna kind of Dodge the question a
2114s little bit and say that I I think that
2116s you know there's lots of things that
2118s people can find enjoyment in different
2119s games and all that sort of stuff and
2122s better might be a little subjective but
2124s uh if you appreciate the the like like
2126s even just being in that conversation of
2128s like
2130s game like a game genre that I grew up
2132s with and you know
2135s say wasted but you know look what we're
2137s doing now it's not enough as a waste of
2139s my childhood on
2141s um
2143s it's it's just surreal so that that's
2145s very cool so thank you

2149s and I think if if we're gonna get into
2151s comparisons I think there's a
2153s there's some there's some there's more
2155s elements that's similar to the classic
2158s like Diablo 2 that you'll find in less
2161s Deepak that I think I think a lot of a
2164s lot of people really resonate with which
2166s is which is great
2168s um and there's tons of stuff that D4
2169s does amazingly well
2172s um like the the one that always comes to
2173s mind first is the presentation in there
2175s like their animations and the visuals
2177s are just just stellar
2181s um yeah I'm jealous of their animations
2183s let's be real here
2191s and like I think that's something where
2193s they I think that's a field that we've
2194s been improving in a ton lately which is
2196s so cool and there's like there's new
2197s animations coming next match I think are
2198s really great
2200s um and like we're tying them in more
2202s specifically to individual skills one of
2204s them just a matter of scale for us so
2206s we'd have like okay well here's the
2208s Mages wand equipped spell casting
2211s animation
2212s uh and and we we just like we use it for
2216s all the Spells and then then we started
2217s to slowly be like um okay well like
2219s maybe this spell has a different Wanda
2221s cook spell Cassie animation and like
2224s um just starting to get more custom
2225s stuff for each situation leading to be
2228s to feel more smooth and cohesive and all
2231s sort of stuff I think it's it's really
2232s starting to come through which is great
2236s ouch
2238s fresh sub love it

2299s usually what comes up some people like
2301s you know it's indifferent they'll play
2302s either way but
2304s um usually it's uh pretty hard yes or
2307s pretty hard now someone wants them and
2308s so we made sure to make those as options
2318s personally I really liked all those
2319s things so I got them all turned on
2321s if it's really bothering you I could be
2323s talking to Turning one of them off

2339s starting out uh Health on Idols is
2340s really good just just in general
2348s audio for the job same as Poe current

2359s drops there I Know I Know audio cues on
2361s loot drops is
2363s um a topic we've been talking about a
2364s fair bit lately
2366s because like things there's there's a
2369s bit of an issue that we have it's not
2371s terrible but you know it's definitely
2372s there and we're discussing and trying to
2374s figure out how to do it
2375s um do it better sorry is uh conveying to
2378s players when an item drops off screen so
2382s whether that's like a DOT you had that
2384s finished something off after you ran
2385s away or maybe a minion that jumped off a
2387s little bit in the distance to like kill
2388s something or you know even just like you
2391s shoot a fireball and it goes real far
2394s um and having those important items be
2397s uh notified to you that you know you do
2399s have to go back and and do that instead
2401s of having to like check behind you every
2403s every few feet
2406s um so we're still working on that too
2409s any leaks I do have leaks
2412s I could be I could be persuaded let's
2414s get a leak out as soon as this one's
2415s done I'll get a leak up

2920s um and you have one percent so you're
2921s doing one percent total damage to that
2923s thing you have one percent penetration
2924s it's now at 98 resistance and you're now
2927s doubling your damage so it's 100 more
2928s damage in that case
2930s um so it's it's it's more effective
2932s against things that have high resistance
2934s of that element
2937s that's like a relative Effectiveness I
2939s guess
2944s so if you know you're fighting things
2945s that are no no almost almost as a cavity
2948s here almost everything in last Epoch has
2949s zero resistances
2951s um and unless it says under its name
2953s resistant to fire or something like that
2955s and when it says like resistant to fire
2956s for example like the the big the crabs
2957s uh in the desert are resistant of fire
2960s um and they have they have a fair bit I
2963s think it's like 50 or something

2977s dungeons was a mob modifier instead of a
2979s reward modifier it wouldn't have any of
2980s these big of an impact to the should I

3519s if we could put ourselves in a like a
3522s time capsule for a year

3531s things are going to want to just roll

3835s um if like oh you've got a bleed on you
3837s and you stop moving you take less damage
3838s or you stop bleeding or it expires fast

3841s um and so this is kind of tapping into
3842s that a little bit

3846s and there was a little bit of new tech
3847s that had to be made for that

3860s armor we know the ton of armor saying
3862s that's not terrible
3867s when 1.0 releases will there be an

4441s uh has there's there's a there's a sweet
4445s um Bard uh build that can get to 10 000

4458s maybe the or just a bad design decision

4529s weapon that's something like this ever
4530s come up yes it has
4532s um
4533s I I think the like there I agree if
4536s there was so if there if there was no
4538s magic in the world
4541s and it was uh like a a fully realistic
4543s setting
4545s um and like
4547s and all that yeah I I think that we
4549s would probably take an approach like
4551s that
4552s um how does my Fireball chill something
4554s because Magic
4556s I I think it's a perfectly acceptable
4558s reason for that
4560s um and I think there's there's uh more
4562s interesting options that can come up
4564s from being able to do that than not
4569s um
4571s I I think there might be some uh room
4574s for and and generally this already works
4577s this way because when there's just
4577s general synergies uh between
4580s similarly elemented ailments and skills
4583s so you'll you'll just see skills that
4586s are cold skills able to get more chill

4596s so like if there was hypothetically the
4599s uh a build that like the best way to
4602s ignite enemies was with
4605s um was was by by using
4609s uh some skill that like had no business
4612s being that the primary ignition skill

4805s defensive ability or uh fire offensive

4812s think is really interesting and would be
4813s cool

4819s something that if you if you get if you
4821s put like okay this has 12 strength and
4822s this has eight endurance and like you
4824s get these like really specific stats
4827s um a lot of time the focus on the
4829s discussion for that will end up being in
4830s the detail of of those secondary effects
4834s and secondary stats and not on the
4836s primary reason for wanting that item
4840s or like oh with that ability that that
4842s item to be so op or things like that
4844s just having like a a broad like this is
4847s the interaction I'm looking for
4849s will quite often yield better
4850s discussions because people can also make
4852s other suggestions on like what types of
4854s other stats they'd like to see go with

5068s it sometimes Fades into the background
5069s on uh brighter stages as well
5073s so we are working to uh improve the
5075s clarity and

5079s but like restricting the information to
5081s be more more important information less
5083s more important information so like less
5085s information but have it focus on the
5087s stuff that's more important a little bit
5088s smarter and then give you the option to
5090s specifically pin specific quests over
5093s there as well that'll help you stay on
5095s track I think

5101s so so yeah I think we're looking to give
5105s you better tools to interact with what's
5107s already there

5972s little bit of a like a lightning effect
5974s that happens on them or whenever you
5975s cast something with lightning there's

5978s around you this is like little tiny
5980s effects here for extra theme that it's
5981s hard to tell them apart from the skills
5983s that you're using
5984s um but they do happen and
5987s um there's a there's a there's a unique
5990s so like fire damage that's dealt from a
5992s holy Source has a different all those
5994s effects are slightly different for for
5996s Holy Fire than they are for regular fire
5998s now
6000s so VFX wise we are distinguishing the
6002s two
6006s but mechanically they are not different

6175s um as you have you spend circle of
6177s Fortune favor in order to
6179s um interact with circular Fortune
6180s mechanics like um buying prophecies
6182s things like that uh and then you you
6184s spend favor you spend um
6187s Merchant skilled favor on
6190s um interacting with the bazaar
6192s buying selling items they cost some
6194s amount of favor based on what you're
6195s buying it's on
6199s got it
6201s um all that information by the way if
6202s you are interested in looking it up
6203s again or referencing it or more detail

6474s nitty-gritty is really good

6563s and uh there will still be a market for
6566s selling low-level items

6571s players that are dealing in these
6573s hypothetically billions dollar uh items
6575s won't won't care about at all uh dealing
6579s in these low-level items and there will
6581s still be room to sell them so even if
6583s even if you are this kind of thing that
6585s happens where like okay you're
6587s maybe you're finding your character
6590s that's strong enough to doing the
6592s high-end stuff super high-end stuff
6593s that's doing
6594s um doing things to find these super
6596s expensive items and you're also finding
6599s a ton of these like lower level items
6603s um and and you can either flood the
6606s market with it or
6608s you know try and corn on the market on
6609s certain things and and those types of
6613s situations won't really happen
6615s because of the restrictions that there
6617s are on on that trade system
6620s um
6625s which I think will be positive overall
6628s which we we do fully understand that
6631s there are people who really want to have
6634s that free market trade experience
6637s um and it's not going to hit the hit the
6639s right notes for that free market trade
6640s experience that you're seeking

6643s where where playing the the market is
6645s like a huge portion of the enjoyment and
6649s um oh I still got that thing I've done
6651s sorry
6653s uh and
6656s uh it's it's unfortunate that we won't
6658s be able to deliver for people who are
6660s looking for that experience
6661s um but we won't be able to deliver for
6663s people that are looking for that
6664s experience

6674s that can exist there might be I don't
6677s know if there is or not that that is
6679s like ideal for everyone

6921s um how all these restrictions line up
6922s and all sort of stuff is is going to be

6929s attention to and I I I have no doubt

6956s hoarding and then like dumping it and
6958s causing problems or uh I I don't know
6961s these there's there's so many ways we
6963s can adjust how
6967s um we have we have a we designed the
6969s system with a ton of little dials

6972s in in the plans that we're going to need
6974s to turn those dials a lot uh at least
6976s initially to get things really solid and
6978s having these things uh designed one way
6982s it can sometimes fall apart at scale
6986s um
6987s and we'll do we'll do our best to like
6989s we'll run simulators and we'll you know
6991s like we'll set up a bunch of bots to
6993s interact with this and and run
6994s simulations and and have like different
6996s Behavior patterns and and behavior
6998s pattern ratios and and all these things
7000s to like try and like Design This to make
7003s it tightened up before we like release
7004s it mass and and all sort of stuff but
7007s like
7008s we can't predict how people are gonna
7010s interact with it exactly
7013s you know there might be some
7015s like way of interacting with it that we
7017s didn't even consider that gets
7018s discovered in the first 10 minutes and
7020s everything falls apart we gotta change
7022s stuff and we're not afraid to to make
7024s those adjustments especially early on

7030s to really make things feel nice and it's
7032s going to come down to a lot of feedback
7033s a lot of feedback I think and I have no
7036s doubt we'll get a ton of feedback

7112s casual but like if if someone isn't
7115s putting in a large amount of time into
7117s the game into learning these systems
7119s um and they just want to like uh toss
7121s something up for sale
7124s um or just like just snag something and
7125s they don't want to do a ton of research
7126s behind it we do want the tools that they
7128s have available to be to be pretty good
7130s at
7131s um not not having them get ripped off

7135s um you know like we obviously can't
7136s prevent that from completely if someone
7138s puts a pair of white boots up for a
7140s billion gold and someone buys it great
7143s that happened
7145s um but like we do want to to give
7148s players the tools they need to interact
7150s with the system smoothly
7153s um and confidently without doing a ton
7155s of research but also the opportunity for
7157s players who do want to put in that time
7158s and effort to get a little bit of extra
7160s value out of it probably and like
7163s um I think experienced players will
7164s thrive in the Inc system like that
7181s uh as of right now is the favorite cost
7183s associated with the gold price of an
7185s item in the bizarre or is it based on
7186s something else something else it's not
7187s based on the gold price of the item
7190s um
7192s that that might be something we tie it
7194s to if we find that something that needs
7196s to happen but no it is

7199s based on the item type
7202s right now So like

7205s legendary items cost more favor to sell
7208s than a a rare item for example
