Empowered monoliths are just lvl100 versions of all the existing monos. They unlock after you beat the last 3. Best thing to do just work your way through the monoliths and it will happen naturally. Normal monoliths can only go up to 50 corruption.
You'll have lots of temporal sanctum keys soon. Alternatively, only 1 person in a group needs to use a key so you could tag along with someone.
