1032s just did the Grim Grim donway at a
1034s unique mace that's basically the shield
1036s yeah so yeah we've talked about doing
1038s that too the problem with the the whole
1039s like at a mace that's basically a shield
1043s um it does it suddenly doesn't count as
1045s a shield for like
1047s um
1048s all sorts of things like if you're if
1051s you have a node that's like some bonus
1052s one will be amazed it counts for that so
1054s you'll be really amazed which you want
1056s dual Shields you don't want to have it
1057s interact with things like that
1059s um
1061s you you've got the
1065s um if you if you start you if you
1068s haven't actually worked as a shield
1069s properly you can put nodes and it's like
1071s per Shield so we do things that are like
1072s per sword in spellblade for example and
1075s so you could like get extra bonus having
1076s two Shields
1077s um
1078s on top of that this little animation
1080s concerns that's the biggest problem with
1082s it is animation because you'd have
1084s um you'd be wielding this shield in your
1087s right hand with uh but it would look
1089s like you were Wheeling a mace like
1091s animation wise so you'd be like swinging
1093s around this Shield like it was A A Mace
1095s and it just doesn't uh it doesn't look
1097s good obviously

1182s purchased these buckets and get the like
1184s used buckets from them or do you want

1202s hypothetically couldn't you add unique
1204s affix like counts as Shield I had
1207s something like one-handed mace that uh
1210s has a unique ethics Constitution Shield
1211s uh benefits for Keynotes and Skilling
1214s trees it's the same thing it's it's the
1216s same amount of work it's the exact same
1218s amount of work to do it's actually
1219s something more work to do that than just
1221s making coping a shield in
1224s uh the main hands slot because it's it's
1227s the the animation concerns are the
1229s hardest part and you'd actually have to
1231s then
1232s um have the unique property interact
1236s with
1237s um the animation check so you'd have to
1240s you have to like change the order of
1241s things to like have have it be able to
1243s detect this unique property when it's
1245s picking which animation to use which
1247s would probably cause slowdowns across
1249s the board like every ability it's it's
1252s it's not a big slowdown but like
1254s technically a little slow down

1426s uh on our test servers that was a ton of

1454s beat meteor shower basically it's my
1455s build meteor shower
1457s um I am working on getting it to be
1459s lightning meteor shower
1462s and I've got a lightning blast as a
1465s Synergy in preparation for that
1468s we're just not quite there yet because
1470s we got the right item for it but we're
1471s just we're just rolling with the fire
1472s meteor until then
1474s taking a little bit more generic damage
1475s abilities until then
1483s is the reason why you couldn't phase two
1484s enemies and multiplayer Legends feature
1486s yeah there's a reason
1487s um it is
1489s basically because we can't be a hundred
1491s percent certain of anything's position
1493s in multiplayer player or enemy for each
1496s in the client so when you're selecting
1499s where to go on your game client uh your
1503s game client is pretty sure where
1505s everything is but can't be quite sure
1508s um
1509s so in order to keep things moving smooth
1513s and not looking jittery and rubber
1515s banding as much you can face through
1516s things basically
1518s um
1523s basically why
1533s because really when you're playing your
1535s game clients just like just taking
1536s actions it's just doing stuff it's just
1538s saying yep I did this uh and you do it
1543s um and then the while you're doing it on
1546s your own screen the game client's
1547s checking with the server being like was
1549s that thing I just did okay
1551s um
1553s it's not really what's happening but guy
1555s from the game client's perspective
1556s that's basically what's happening
1558s um
1559s and the the server is basically saying
1561s yeah that was fine
1564s so it was actually just telling you
1566s where you are
1567s and if it's close enough then your
1568s client is uh not changing your position
1572s locally
1582s just use the meteor
1586s plans to add more crazy weapon types
1588s recently played on December and they
1591s have a weapon type called a gunbo
1592s basically two wielding crossover is very
1594s cool yeah there's
1596s um there are some very intentionally
1598s missing weapon types
1601s uh that we think will fit really well
1603s with certain archetypes that aren't in
1604s the game yet and we're kind of leaving
1606s open in preparation for that so
1609s um like there are people who runs
1611s through the game files a bit and they
1613s would have noticed a couple of these
1614s types that are already
1616s um
1616s they already have like IDs in the in the
1619s lists of item types ready to go but
1621s there's just no item of that type in the
1622s game for example fist weapons and
1625s crossbows 200 crossbows
1629s um already have an item ID
1632s but there are none in the game
1637s and there's there's definitely we've
1639s intentionally left room
1642s uh for other item types to be slipped in
1644s as well
1645s so things like and then I have no idea
1647s if any of these will be added but these
1648s are just the ones that come to mind for
1649s myself personally
1651s um things along the lines of you know a
1655s one-handed spear there's no one
1656s hemispheres in the game there's no
1658s two-handed shields in the game
1660s um you know there's there's definitely
1662s room for some oh
1665s there we go
1668s um and there's definitely room for some
1670s some less conventional weapon types in
1672s the future maybe a one-handed crossbow
1673s as far as getting actual like gunpowder
1676s in the game that's not something we're
1677s planning at the moment uh it's possible
1680s so far future future but not
1682s as anything anytime soon especially not
1684s for 1.0

1705s upcoming major patch before 1.0 I would

1709s strongboxes in Pue or really anything

1724s nothing along all there's nothing on the

1794s bit on the favor system in factions like
1797s how you get it and stuff or is it or is
1799s that still TBA this so um yeah I can
1801s explain that happy too um all of what
1803s I'm about to say is available in the
1805s original item factions announcement post
1807s all this information is there so there's
1808s nothing new there's nothing hidden
1809s there's nothing being revealed this is
1811s all public already available info
1814s um so as you
1816s uh are as as you progress to the
1819s storyline eventually you will get to a
1821s point where you have to select an item
1823s faction to be a part of
1825s I say have to this possibility might not
1828s actually have to do it but you should
1829s because there's no reason not to anyways
1832s um I mean other than some weird extra
1834s challenge but yeah I digress anyway so

1837s um you'll get to pick your faction once
1839s you have a faction selected either
1840s Circle Of Fortune or immersion skilled
1843s um as long as you are representing that
1844s faction by just picking one or the other
1846s and you can switch between them you can
1848s just be like okay I want to switch the
1849s other one no problem go ahead as you
1851s kill enemies you will gain favor
1854s um for the faction you're representing
1856s and then you can spend that favor on the
1859s faction specific mechanics
1862s um the favor is faction specific as well
1865s so you can't Farm favor on as a circle
1868s of Fortune and then switch and use the
1870s favor as the merchant skill
1872s um it is circle Fortune paper and
1874s Merchant skill paper they are distinct
1876s um
1880s yeah
1882s I I think I think that's that's pretty
1884s much how favor works
1886s um as you spend favors so like for
1889s example things you can spend favor on in
1891s Merchants Guild will be like oh you want
1893s to post something for sale it costs
1895s favor you want to buy something that's
1896s posted for sale cost favor
1899s um as you do actions that cost favor
1903s like buying and selling things the
1904s merchant skill
1907s um your reputation with that faction
1909s will increase and once it hits a certain
1912s threshold it will increase in rank and
1915s at each rank new actions or abilities
1918s are unlocked
1920s um with the merchant skill primarily
1923s that means new types of items that you
1925s can buy and sell
1927s um
1928s but there are other things as well some
1930s of those examples were listed in the
1933s item factions announcement post
1938s the reason
1940s I'm explaining this with Merchants Guild
1941s not circle of Fortune is because I
1943s remember that post this morning and I
1944s think you were asking specifically about
1946s Merchant's Guild

2168s because they're pretty prominent early

2443s a break but you know I I think that
2445s there's
2446s just as many if not more positive posts

2450s um which which are always great and even
2451s even the ones that are like I didn't
2453s enjoy this but like here's why and
2456s um you know like here's maybe an idea on
2458s something that I think would be cool you
2460s know those those types of posts I love
2462s reading those posts because like you see
2463s people's like imagination and creativity
2465s and there's there's very frequently
2467s things I never would have thought of
2469s that show up in those posts most of them
2471s you can't do it for some technical
2473s reason or
2474s um some sort of design conflicts but

2477s um that was so cool to see still
2481s I'm really grateful for our community I

2594s there's balance um things we can improve
2596s on for sure and here to make more of
2598s them competitively viable

2608s um and I think I think leaning into our
2610s strengths here is really important
2613s um so like one of our one of our big
2615s strengths is our skill trees

2619s these features that we that we do well

2636s that I like that's the feature that got

2859s planning to fix it or fix those problems

2864s doing the job for you with workarounds

3107s time we are constantly updating our
3109s engine and infrastructure for the game

3117s tool for someone to use on something
3118s that like changes the way the engine
3119s works so like the the underlying engine
3121s I say is Unity 2019 but there's tons of
3124s stuff we built on top of that they kind
3125s of make up the whole game engine

3131s so we're we're constantly working on
3133s that and updating that and increasing
3136s the things that we can do with the game
3137s uh and so it's when we when we come up
3140s to a problem and we're like okay there's
3142s uh a solution we could make that would
3144s require us to like change the engine a
3145s little bit or there's a problem solution
3146s we could make that would not require us
3148s to do that but we'd have to like work
3149s work around the problems weird way or
3151s something like that and it's a lot of
3153s the times it's it's dependent on
3156s um what the problem is how like you know
3161s like how how big of a deal is it to
3164s to make this change and
3166s um
3167s what's what's the most cost effective
3169s way to do this is it is the workaround
3171s solution
3173s fun interesting good is it going to be
3175s feel good to play or is it
3178s is it not and and is the like changing
3182s the engine is that like is that gonna
3183s take a days I can take someone a month

3349s bad at the moment especially when it's
3350s just one Shard so we're planning on to
3353s have them drop less slightly less
3355s frequently and in larger groups on
3356s average this is actually from before the
3358s most recent patch we've already done

3360s um we're also planning to add more of a
3363s sink for shards uh you don't want so it
3365s feels less futile to have picked up a
3367s Shard that you aren't planning to use
3369s and already have hundreds of

3498s recheck everything like I know for

3505s fantastically added Auto pickup for
3506s Luton D2 because it was really important
3508s to pick up gold or Auto pick up for
3509s Golden D2 because it's really important
3510s to pick up your gold because it would
3512s there was a maximum number of uh objects
3516s that would show up on the screen at the
3517s same time and so you could have like a
3520s burn sitting there on the ground you'd
3521s never know it because
3523s um the gold was taking up those those
3524s item tools of slots uh things like that
3527s so like

3529s I I've I've more than once come through
3532s chaos Sanctuary on like a really low
3534s level character trailing way far behind
3536s and just like found a High room because
3538s no one saw it because it wasn't
3540s displaying on their screens yet
3542s um so you know it's it's

3548s and we are taking steps that we think
3550s are going to be more performant
3552s um and less prone to potential really

5485s have things that that normally would
5488s wait for like one thing would start it
5490s would wait for and then when it finishes

5499s necessarily need to wait for the first

6378s up 480 gigs on my drive right now like

6385s um there's just a ton of stuff all over
6387s the place and just getting in there and
6389s navigating it and figuring out what's
6391s going on is it's it's a bit of an
6394s undertaking just getting your bearings

6400s um and there's just there's tons of
6401s little things like

6405s like oh it's there's like you start
6407s working with skills and it's like okay
6408s well this function does these things and
6410s you just know that oh you're starting a
6412s mutator and you don't need to put the

6423s basement theater class uh and and like
6426s there's just little things like that you
6427s just know because you've been working on
6428s the project for five years

6431s um when you when you start a new code
6432s base you have to learn those things and
6434s so it's there's there's a there's a ramp
6435s up time there's an onboarding time and a
6437s ramp up time
6438s um and a lot of times people can come in
6439s and there's tons of stuff you don't need
6441s that for and you can be very effective
6443s very quickly as well but it's it's it's

6579s strictly multiplicative at the moment
6584s it's kind of like I know this is bad
6588s example I don't know a better one I'm
6589s really sorry I wish I had a better

6592s um the one that comes to mind that's
6594s kind of a similar-ish thing if you look
6597s at damage reduction
6600s and you say

6603s and so usually when you're adding damage
6605s more stats are just better
6608s so you're like I want more damage is
6610s better than increased damage right well
6612s it's the opposite for reduced damage
6614s because if you have
6616s um if you have a hundred percent reduced
6618s damage taken
6620s um you take no damage uh and so if you
6623s have say five instances of 20 reduced
6626s damage taken that is 100 reduced
6628s indication because they all get added
6629s together and that's zero right
6631s um but if you have five instances of
6633s twenty percent less damage taken that's
6636s actually not a hundred percent reduced
6639s damage because
6641s um they're each multiplicative with each
6642s other so the first one this is by 20 and
6644s the second one reduces it by 20 of 80 of
6648s the damage it's not twenty percent of a
6650s hundred percent of the damage
6652s um and so each one of those is worth a
6654s tiny bit less each time
6656s and you end up not being able to reduce
6657s your damage to zero damage taking to
6659s zero
6660s um
6661s and I I it's it's kind of the same
6664s problem if you start adding in a bunch
6665s of additive damage reduction stats
6668s eventually you'll get to a point where
6669s it's just a problem
6671s and they have way more impact
6678s I don't know how to explain it any
