I have come to the realization that there aren’t many void builds in this game outside of one specific mastery (Void Knight). I think the idea of void and its ailments are really cool, so it’s a shame that it’s restricted to one mastery.
One idea would be to add one new mastery for each class and some of them be void-based but that would be wayyy too much work and shouldn’t be the focus anytime soon.
Void, however, is also tied to the Shade of Orobyss, a very prominent endgame boss that is the heart of this he corruption system. This makes it seem like void builds involve using the enemy’s/cprruption’s powers… and that gave me another idea.
Suggestion:
One of the future cycles could be based on Orobyss and other void entities that are influenced by it (something like void-corrupted enemies). It could also include some half-void minibosses that drop special uniques.
Many of the uniques from the cycle could be items similar to Lament of the Lost Refuge, where they convert different abilities from the different classes in the game into void skills, among other bonuses. This could lead to some really cool and unique endgame void builds without the need to make whole new masteries AND it would expand on the lore of Orobyss.
It would be a lot of work, but one of the uniques could be a unique that turns the Lich’s reaper form into a Void form.
TL;DR: Cycle with Orobyss/Void/Corruption theme with new uniques that convert non-void skills into void skills.
