522s snapping it causes some issues in

611s Powerhouse uh ways to build Rogue right
613s now probably there's there's um jel
616s blast knife stuff as well so um there's
619s you know there's there's definitely room
621s for other ways to play to start to shine

632s yeah but like you know we're always
633s looking for ways to um if there's if
636s there's especially specific fantasies
638s like and play styles that are just

640s unavailable um so like I guess when
643s we're look like a good example of this
644s is when we're looking at
650s um what's what's something that's like
652s okay so something that's very very
654s represented it's just like being a melee
656s class that deals like melee combat
658s damage it's it's a very broad term but
661s there's so many different ways to do it
663s uh in lasty pocket I think that's a
665s really good thing there there's lots of
666s there's lots of variety and in ways you
668s can play as a melee I'm going hit you
672s with physical damage character um
675s there's not a lot of different ways
677s there's only one class that can even do
678s it to play as a I'm going to shoot you
681s with a bow type class and they're both
684s very
685s classical um RPG and
688s arpg archetypes so you know like when
691s when the one that um when there's like
696s when the bow class doesn't do well that
698s whole archetype vanishes but when one of
700s the many melee classes doesn't do well
702s the archetype doesn't vanish there's
704s less of a impetus to like push to get
707s that um back as
710s a like a well performing build also

962s that's been home all day I didn't sign
964s for um turns out they delivered it to my
966s neighbor happens to us like a lot and
969s like our addresses are so obviously
972s painted on the like it's so clear and I
974s don't know how it happens so much but
975s our neighbor gets stuff for us all the
977s time uh anyways uh it was the case for
982s the the last eot case showed up in the
984s mail and it came with all of these uh
987s like acrylic
992s um uh
994s inserts that are that you can see you
996s can see light through
998s them um and only one of them can go in
1000s the case at a time and so I am I'm I'm
1004s thinking what I'm going to do is I'm
1005s going to
1008s print I've got a couple 3D printers in
1010s the garage and I'm going to print a like
1012s a mount for them and wire in some like
1016s some LED lights on just on like a
1018s battery or something like that so you
1018s can turn them on on and off and there's
1020s no cables dangling but like having some
1022s like some lights to like shine through
1023s the back or something like that I think
1024s it's going to be pretty cool um so
1026s that's that's one of my projects that
1028s I'm going to start working on probably
1029s sometime this
1031s week the whole case is way bigger than I
1040s thought it's huge
1052s so no computer in there
1058s yet oh okay that's a little
1061s sore all right uh yeah so that's that's
1065s that's going to be a project I'm going
1066s to I'm just going to swap out my my
1068s computer that's that's this is running
1069s on yeah it's like the most generic
1072s nondescript black case possible right
1074s now it's going be it's going to be a an
1077s aesthetic upgrade also just realiz this
1079s isn't
1080s on it's probably
1084s better These Guys these tunder stalkers
1087s are
1089s dangerous all right more questions will
1092s 1.1 come with any updates to controller
1095s support yes it
1097s will yes it
1099s will uh will we encounter the harbingers
1102s in the monolith or somewhere else
1106s yes uh I don't know how much we can talk
1109s about this

1112s um but definitely one of those two
1117s things um they they are they're I I
1122s don't know what I can say about this yet
1123s because I don't think we've really said
1124s much about them at
1126s all um they are part of it is is part of
1129s like our endgame system
1141s it does like it works with the monolith
1144s I I don't know what I can really say
1145s about it yet but yeah it's it's it's
1150s integrated all right like one thing um
1155s that I think we we struggle with a
1156s little bit in
1162s um some some of the some of the side
1164s activities so like you've got your main
1167s activity that you're looking to do in
1168s the monol your your you're pushing
1169s corruption you're killing bosses you're
1172s completing prophecies like these are all
1174s things that are happening inside the
1175s monolith and that that are like slowly
1176s working towards uh a singular goal um
1180s and then sometimes you get into dungeon
1181s situations where you're like I need to
1182s complete the dungeon for the reward but
1185s it doesn't fur really like it doesn't
1187s give me progress towards anything else
1190s or I have to go back and I have to
1192s complete my passive rewards uh my
1195s passive and and Idol unlocks on on side
1197s quests and things like that and there's
1199s there's like there's there's things that
1200s can take you out
1202s of uh the like efficiency route like
1206s where you you're like I'm no longer
1207s being efficient anymore I'm no longer
1209s being playing optimally because I'm not
1210s doing the thing that's going to provide
1211s the best bonus but it's something that
1213s like needs to be done
1216s anyways um so think there's some issues
1218s with efficiency feeling there
1225s um so we are mindful of that as we're
1227s developing new systems
1230s it's not like we're and I think this um
1233s not not trying to put people in like a
1234s single system forever but um when you do
1239s come out of it feeling like you're still
1240s being efficient I think is
1248s important that like howl Screech thing
1250s it does that applies a ton of slow and
1251s Frostbite it's
1253s nutty all right as a huge MTX fan
1256s looking good is in game how far are we
1259s away from me using those sweet sweet
1261s skill slots to totally bling my skills
1264s um I don't know exactly how far away we
1266s are but it's still you're still a ways
1268s out you're
1270s still still got a little time
1273s there we don't have uh the functionality
1278s of the system designed
1280s yet so like even even if the um bfx
1285s Team like built up an MTX
1290s um
1292s skill object thing to do like a
1295s replacement VFX for a skill um it would
1299s have no way of slotting into the current
1302s system we still have to we still have to
1304s like develop the tech behind the
1317s Dem right

1324s think I had a pretty good week this week
1325s yeah
1328s um you know
1330s there's we we we had a freak
1333s rainstorm
1336s um two mornings ago and I went into full
1339s panic
1340s mode luckily saved everything which is
1342s great but it was like 2 three hours of
1345s like just sheer
1347s Panic like throwing my jacket on the
1349s floor like throwing like I'm taking off
1352s my shirt and using it as a mop you know
1353s like ridiculous just panic
1356s mode screaming up the stairs get the
1364s towels all right any chance of seeing
1367s throwing base weapons with throwing
1370s damage implicits in the future this this
1372s is a question that comes up quite a lot
1375s um so I'm not going to go super in depth
1377s but there's not much there I guess
1379s um basically probably not um all of the
1383s throwing abilities are balanced around
1385s the fact that you don't have those as
1387s possibilities um so like the the the
1390s like the monkeys pod J I like to play is
1393s like oh yeah I think sure I think you're
1394s all the monkey po curls and and and all
1396s and there's a new item type that's add
1398s to the game that has 100 base throwing
1400s damage all throwing abilities have minus
1403s 100 base damage you know it's like if if
1406s we did add that we would take the power
1407s away elsewhere um um and and then you
1410s just be wasting or you just be using
1412s more opportunity costs in your gear to
1415s get back to where you were
1418s um so so we don't really have any plans
1420s to do that at the moment we're quite
1421s happy with it being something that you
1423s don't have to use that um uh that that
1427s that gear equipment slot
1429s for quite as he
1446s right what's the intended balance for
1448s the map non boss enemies map non-boss
1452s enemies okay do you want them to be
1454s punching dummies or things you can
1455s actually need to pay attention to um I
1459s mean I think I think a variety is good
1460s here where there's like uh some enemies
1463s that you know
1464s are a little bit of a pushover and then
1466s other enemies that um you know they show
1469s up and you're like okay I've got to I've
1471s got to figure out how I'm going to
1472s navigate this situation and like am am I
1475s going
1476s to rush in am I going to like try and
1479s use some sort of tactics of the train
1480s you know like so there's having having
1481s situations of of both um show up is is I
1485s think the goal and what we what we
1487s trying to
1491s do uh would you like to see more skills
1494s that require a different resource to
1496s cast such as skills implemented into the
1499s game uh just curious on your opinion of
1503s skills that don't use Mana to cast um
1506s yeah I mean so we we balance a lot of
1509s the
1511s um the frequency of how fast you can use
1514s abilities around Mana we do use Health
1517s as a as a cost thematically
1521s in in in acly quite a bit as well so
1524s like we do we do try and put alternate
1526s costs in where it thematically makes
1528s sense and is mechanically
1531s interesting but if if there's if we're
1533s looking at an alternate cost system and
1535s we're like I me it's just really Mana
1537s but with extra steps is there a real
1539s point to that um and sometimes where we
1542s answer yes to that question is with rage
1546s because because rage really is just Mana
1547s with extra
1549s steps
1551s um and it's mostly just there as a uh a
1556s thematic way for it to
1559s give impart the mechanic of of of time
1562s liming and resource Decay onto shape
1575s shif okay thought we I thought we were
1578s done for there it was close uh yeah but
1580s but I think there's there's definitely
1581s room for alternate casting cost in
1585s specific situations so I think like
1587s having those alternate costs link to
1589s specific abilities is really important
1591s um having a like adding a unique item to
1593s the game that was like
1596s um uh if if you run out of Mana you can
1599s still use an ability it just like takes
1601s the rest of the of the Mana cost out of
1602s your health for whatever ability is no
1604s matter what you can like use enough
1606s things it'll just kill you and like like
1608s putting an item in the game like that
1610s would be very dangerous balance-wise
1614s um I think would be one of those things
1616s that like it it would end up being super
1620s weak or having like a crazy High um
1623s opportunity cost or having like a crazy
1626s high uh downside that's associated with
1628s the item directly like I think something
1630s like that would have to be so heavily um
1633s internally balanced like in in the item
1635s itself internally that it would it would
1638s end up not feeling like a ton of fun to
1640s play that to use the item
1651s um but I think there's I think there's
1652s room for alternate costs in individual
1654s mechanics So like um I think you could
1656s have an ability where let's say uh the
1660s the ability passively
1661s generates um a resource every X
1665s seconds I'm realizing halfway through
1667s this that I'm literally just describing
1668s Mana with extra stabs but if if the item
1671s generates passively a resource in
1673s discret chunks such as like a um you get
1677s an ability
1679s this is also just basically cool Downs
1680s with extra steps too you know it's It's
1682s tricky to come with a new system like
1683s this a new resource but I think that you
1685s could have uh alternate resource
1691s system that would be interesting we just
1694s we just have to be like there be a
1695s reason behind
1697s it just doing it because it's different
1699s I think is the tricky part doing it
1701s because it is uh interesting is much
1705s much better
1709s I think okay here's here's a little
1711s example of that um the the falconer has
1714s and really any um any minion does this
1717s but the Falcon really accentuates this
1718s because you have multiple abilities that
1720s you can command the the Falcon to do you
1722s have this um action
1724s economy um where like if you send your
1729s Falcons to a dive bomb you then if you
1732s uh if you want to do an aerial assault
1733s with it it will cut that dive bomb short
1736s so you kind of have to that that
1738s resource that ultimate resource you're
1739s working with is now the Falcon's
1753s time I do think that's interesting
1755s that's something that we discussed a lot
1756s while we were making
1764s it all right this
1769s uh the case is really cool Will you show
1771s us the end version when you are done
1773s yeah for
1774s sure
1776s um it's going to be a bit I uh I'm not
1779s in a big rush to to to to get it built
1782s up but um once I once I finally carve
1784s out an hour I can get that switched over
1791s pretty we used to have I'm just gonna
1794s brag about this for a minute because I
1795s think it's pretty cool uh we I used to
1797s work at a computer shop
1799s and uh we used to have races like you
1801s have like the like the standard like
1803s house system build where it's like uh
1805s like the the one that 90% of people walk
1807s in and by CU it's the the the cheapest
1809s one that'll actually get the job done um
1812s and like you're just constantly ordering
1813s the parts and constantly building them
1815s and um so we used to have races to see
1817s how fast you could build one of those
1819s systems and and it would have to post
1820s first try complete disqualification if
1823s it didn't post first
1825s try um and it got to the point where we
1829s were just so fast that we're like all
1832s right well I guess we're do blindfolded
1833s now let's see let's race blindfolded cuz
1835s racing uh not blindfold is is getting
1842s boring yeah building the system is not
1844s the hard part just uh sorting out time
1846s where I I
1848s can to do it is is the hard
1855s part
1856s right uh hello Mr Epoch hello it's a
1860s cool name Mr
1862s Epoch Please Mr Epoch is my
1868s father was
1875s terrible but if you can't laugh at
1878s yourself who can you laugh at all right
1880s hey what are your thoughts on item
1882s exclusive subskills getting their own
1884s little skill treats for example Frozen
1885s Ires tund NOA or magma shards from
1888s Vulcan is two-handed sword um I think
1891s it's really
1893s cool um it's it's actually things we've
1895s talked about before doing before this is
1897s this is not the first time we've
1898s consider doing this
1900s um it's it is a little
1903s tricky um UI wise especially when like
1907s if you take especially if that item is
1910s in any way craftable and so you're
1912s there's a potential for you to like take
1913s that item off put that item back on in
1916s like a a crafting situation there's
1918s there's sort of this
1921s like uh this this this issue of it going
1925s on and off and not realizing if and
1927s keeping the specialization points where
1928s they were type
1930s thing
1937s um that was going to be harder anyways
1939s um so yeah there there's there's some
1941s logistical UI trickiness there but uh it
1944s is something that we've
1946s considered it' be cool it' be very cool
1953s uh probably here
1958s yeah
1967s yes I think stuff like
1971s static uh where the ability itself has a
1974s resource are especially cool to build
1976s and play around person yeah that that is
1978s a a good example of one that we do
1979s already in
1987s game didn't get a notification for it

2068s uh something that people forgot a lot
2070s when whenever someone new would come to
2072s the shop and like all right let's see
2073s build a system
2075s um that was that was almost always the
2078s thing that uh that that got missed you
2082s know
2083s like in a new place building new system
2085s that sort of thing it's it's always the
2087s io Shield you're absolutely right people
2089s come people come in all the time like I
2091s built my system and um like oh it's it's
2094s not booting or it's not posting and or
2097s like they call you on the and and I'm
2098s like you're there's something from your
2100s IO Shield bending into a USB port like
2102s almost guarantee it um no I checked it
2105s okay bring it
2108s in you can usually fix that in 5 10
2112s seconds but
2114s like it you're you're you're down on the
2117s money it happened all the
2122s time or into the um there's there
2126s there's an Asus board for a while that
2129s the io shield for whatever reason the
2131s the tab on the on the Cat 5 the the
2133s network cable Port um would would like
2137s Bend into the network Port but it bent
2140s in such a way that like you could still
2142s plug a network cable into it so you
2143s people like a network cable plugged into
2145s the port um with this like metal tab
2148s like bent into the port as well and it
2149s was just
2151s like
2153s uh we like stop selling the boards cuz
2156s they just happen all the time
2163s and it would fry the P every
2173s time
2178s right are there any plans to explain
2181s more stuff in game guide oh yeah I had
2183s some issues learning flame Aura on my
2185s first playthrough and had to look up a
2187s yes so there's um we we we try to put as
2191s much of the information um in context
2193s specific places as possible so like when
2195s you Mouse over a skill that skill tool
2197s is up showing you all of the relevant
2199s information for it and then like we use
2201s alt to give you even more extra
2202s information on that skill type
2204s thing um but we we try and add any like
2207s notes on like here's what's special
2208s about this ability here's here's
2210s something you might think you need to
2211s know about that ability that usually
2212s goes in that alt text where it's like
2214s just extra questions people have asked
2216s over the years
2218s and things were like yeah we really
2219s should explain that somewhere so we we
2221s do try and put things in context
2222s specific places um the game guide also
2225s is is something that we are trying to
2227s expand on um cuz you're right there are
2231s there are missing things in there still
2232s and it is um primed to be a fantastic
2236s resource but it's not quite there yet
2238s I'd say it's a very good resource right
2240s now um and we're we're on we're on the
2242s way to fantastic I think
2249s do we want to come down here as
2251s well just to get more of
2255s them go just go full investment
2261s there we're coming up here
2265s though we got to do
2274s that uh in a past stream I heard you say
2278s run Master needed some attention please
2280s tell me you're not going to Nerf my boy

2290s Ward Ward overall at the top end goes
2294s too hard um that's something we've not
2298s been shy about saying at
2300s all uh and and had the like um that that
2306s surve that balancing survey that we did
2308s like three months ago now if that had
2310s come back with just like yeah do
2312s midcycle balances Ward would have been
2314s nerfed
2316s already
2321s um but you know the the the play styles
2323s that are popular and fun with R Master
2325s right now people enjoy the play styles
2327s of because the play styles are fun you
2329s things like that like we still want to
2330s promote those as powerful and fun play
2333s Styles so that they're they're still
2335s going to be really strong in all that
2336s sort of stuff
2340s I I I know one of the one of the builds
2342s that's very popular in testing right now
2345s is still Master
2351s build your ward just doesn't go quite
2354s that
2359s nutty I'm sure there other changes too
2361s but yeah so like we are we're balancing
2364s the game it's going to include Buffs and
2366s Nerfs all over the place you know like
2368s even I this is going to sound ridiculous
2370s but even classes that have um that are
2375s probably overall underpowered have Nerfs
2377s that go with them too like it's it's not
2379s just pure Buffs on one side and pure
2381s Nerfs on the other side like you know
2383s run Master will have some Buffs too so
2384s like there's there's good and there
2386s there's good and bad there's there's
2387s Buffs and Nerfs which I think are all
2389s good on uh on all the classes you know
2392s so it's
2393s it's it's not so cut and dry of how
2397s things happen
2404s I was I was like just opening myself my
2406s mouth to say like oh that was close good
2408s thing I survived that
2417s no the fractured Crown is an interesting
2420s item it is the the fraction Crown has a
2423s crazy history behind it um it was it was
2427s we so we added the this item um and
2429s didn't tell anyone how to get it uh and
2432s there was it was it was a very brief but
2434s still really fun time where people were
2436s trying to figure out how to make this
2438s item and I loved that I thought that was
2440s so much fun it it brought me back to the
2443s like the playground days where like um
2447s know your buddy your buddy buddy Greg
2449s tells you he runs up the playground all
2451s excited he's like you know like if you
2453s if you run up and down the coast on on
2455s cinar island uh after talking to this
2458s this one guy in Pallet Town you'll
2460s you'll you'll spawn this like glitched
2462s out Pokemon and like you just you got to
2464s do it forever or if you if you attack
2466s this this van for a for a week solid
2469s you'll eventually spawn a Mew and it's
2471s like um one of those is
2474s real um it reminded me of of that
2477s feeling and I was I was so happy with
2480s it you know with the advanced tools that
2483s are available now to to to learn these
2484s things it doesn't last long um but when
2487s it does it's it's
2489s really I think we even had a situation
2491s uh where someone figured it out and was
2493s like I'm going to let people like try
2494s and organically figure this out I that
2496s was super cool
2505s too well let me read the second half of
2507s your question instead of just going off
2508s on a
2509s tangent uh the FR Crown is an
2512s interesting item as there is a challenge
2514s in making the crafted unique do you
2516s foresee any more unique it items that
2518s can be CED yeah I think that this is um
2522s I I don't think this is a one-off
2524s situation forever I think that uh we are
2527s we we we like to use things like this
2529s sparingly because it is unique and
2531s interesting and fun and uh all all these
2533s things that we love about it and if we
2535s suddenly are like well there's now this
2536s whole class of 50 unique items and
2538s they're all craftable different ways I I
2540s think it takes a little bit of the magic
2542s away from the ones that are like that
2545s um on the plus side of having a bunch
2547s that do that every once in a while
2549s someone will stumble across one of those
2550s and that's a really cool
2554s moment on the fractured Crown is also a
2556s call back to our old crafting system so
2558s it's a little different cuz in uh the
2560s original way you made a fractured Crown
2562s was you actually had to fracture the
2563s item it was fracturing item was today's
2566s equivalent of running out of forging
2567s potential um but it could happen on your
2569s very first craft all at once just
2571s instantly like 100% to 0% um which was a
2574s real feels bad moment that's I took that
2576s out of the game but when that
2578s happened on an item that was on a rare
2581s item that was kind of similar to the
2582s fractured Crown stats it would uh create
2585s the fractured Crown unique and that so
2587s that was that was a really special uh I
2591s think
2593s uh thing we that attack that this guy
2596s does this attack right here like stay
2599s out of that it is so powerful it doesn't
2601s look like much it is so crazy powerful
2610s this thing will just onot you so
2616s easy we're just freeze locking this
2618s thing
2621s so Master must not be
2624s afraid
2631s wonderful like talking about how careful
2633s you got to be and it still almost gets

2788s working on new skills 1.1 will not
2790s include any new skills it's going to be
2793s our first major patch ever that hasn't

2801s me uh that we we've never missed one
2803s before but um there's there's there's
2806s lots of updates lots of tweaks to skills
2807s that exist now um and there's you know
2811s there's lots of new stuff coming it's
2812s just no no out of the box brand new

2819s definitely going back to um adding more

2824s planned there's there's new masteries
2827s planned there's new base classes planned

2940s crafter you have a chance to cast a
2942s shield from ring of shields when you
2945s block a hit and you have additional
2948s block Effectiveness per shield from ring
2950s of shields this effect can trigger up to
2953s three times every six seconds
2955s additionally your minions have increased
2956s health and armor there's a lot going on
2958s in this node um a lot of stuff there
2960s really really trying to push that uh
2962s that shield theming on Forge
2965s guard getting getting some more minions
2967s stats out there as well is going to be I
2968s think this is going to be a pretty uh
2970s staple node for a lot of like
2974s um like even if you're not doing ring of
2977s shields I there's still room for this
2978s note on some builds type
2980s thing which is which is
2982s cool won't won't be as priority if
2984s you're going if you're going ring of
2985s shields as as
2988s a as a skills is going to be a really
2990s good one especially if you're doing any
2991s sort of block stuff but I will say that

2997s or you do need block chance already to

3066s the passive tree are focused around hit
3067s based things like block block chance um

3090s armor armor a lot of physical hits are
3093s armor a lot of dots are not physical a
3096s lot of hits are physical a lot of dots

3109s sense um but I don't think there's an
3111s intentional thing there or or any sort

3129s going the falconer Mobility skill is
3132s such a cool concept have you considered
3134s adding something similar to the prim
3135s list I tunneling underground with your
3137s scorpion for a short distance yeah so I
3139s think the um it's interesting the the
3143s falconer um the the aerial assault
3145s Falconer movement ability is
3149s um an ex an evolution of an old
3154s primalist ability that we remov from the
3155s game actually uh there used to be a game
3157s in the ability called flanking strike um
3161s and what it would do
3164s is you if you if you had like an an
3167s enemy here um and your your your minion
3170s was here and you're
3175s here die real quick quick um and you use
3179s you use flanking strike on on a Target
3181s here it would Dash you and then about a
3184s a just a split second later it would oh
3186s no it would it would Dash your minion
3188s first um and taunt and cause the uh the
3192s enemy to like look at your minion and
3194s then you would also Dash to the same
3196s Target and hit it again um and it would
3198s do extra damage to like taunted enemies
3200s that this this was the goal was it was
3202s like you're flanking the enemy from two
3203s different sides you're both attacking it
3205s together that sort of thing um and this
3208s this got pulled it had lots of problems
3210s like functionality problems gameplay
3212s problems visual problems like it just it
3214s was just riddle with problems and i'
3216s still love to try and get this working
3217s again but the aerial salt you see on
3219s Falconer is the evolution of that
3225s ability it was like used as a reference
3229s when we started designing that ability
3231s type type Evolution like Direct
3238s I we've talked about uh other abilities
3240s like that like I I'd still we when we I
3243s think we first pitch the Raptor as well
3244s I think there was a a movement ability
3246s where you'd like hop on the Raptor and
3247s use it as a mount and we're like H It's
3249s A Bridge Too Far maybe
3252s but there there's things like that we're
3253s always talking
3256s about especially when the Raptor gets
3258s some size Buffs like there's there's a
3259s few things you do to get your Raptor
3260s bigger and when it's past a certain size
3263s it like really makes sense to be able to
3264s ride it like I've had any wow mounts is
3267s an orc where that mount is way smaller
3269s than
3273s me all

3283s add uniques at some
3288s point okay it is that okay all is it
3291s possible that you might add uniques at
3292s some point that alter skill trees in any
3294s other way than giving additional points

3303s nodes or changing conversion nodes into
3305s different elements or is it more of the
3307s player freedom than you're willing to
3308s give um just before I answer that thank

3323s uh so yes answering this question we we
3325s have talked about doing things like this
3328s um I think the
3331s so we kind of do some of these things
3333s like this already uh is but not the
3336s specific suggestions you you've put here
3338s and there's a good reason for that and
3339s it's basically just the um how the tree
3342s is laid out needs to be kind of static
3344s it needs to not change much with the
3346s current system
3348s um so so we don't currently have a way
3352s to like modify which nodes exist on this
3355s tree how many not points required to
3358s them and the actual like connections
3361s there like that that type of
3362s modification isn't something that we
3363s really have the ability to change uh
3366s right now it would be super cool if we
3367s could but it's just um the complex I
3371s think the I think the um from a design
3374s perspective the the depth you gain like
3377s the the depth complexity ratio for that
3379s change is isn't high enough I think you
3382s get not enough depth for the amount of
3383s complexity that it adds um
3389s and and it's it's kind of just uh not
3391s quite enough stuff I think I I think
3395s you'd have to do it in order for it to
3397s be interesting it would have to be done
3399s very generically so it be like you got
3400s plus one connection and you're like what
3403s does that mean you have like now you're
3404s like learning like where can I place
3406s connections and things like that it's I
3407s think it gets a little messy um I think
3410s just the extra the extra point kind of
3413s achieves that in some ways cuz it's just
3414s like it's you can use that extra point
3416s to just Traverse the tree a little bit
3417s easier to like make your way around the
3419s the long way a little bit a little bit
3421s faster like that that extra point kind
3422s of just does that organically um it's
3425s really and that's really easy to
3427s understand as well so the you get most
3429s of the complexity or you get most of the
3431s depth without adding any extra complex I
3433s think that's the the the key reason why
3435s we use just plus skills instead of those
3437s types of things
3439s um we do try to put uh
3443s like uh for example you mentioned having
3446s different element conversions we kind of
3447s just do that already on on things where
3450s it'll be like hey this item gives you a
3451s cold conversion for this ability um and
3454s if you have the fire conversion for that
3456s ability on the tree already it uh the
3458s cold the item overrides that and so you
3460s still you're kind of you kind of are
3462s converting that um like that conversion
3466s node into a different element version
3468s you know like so so there's
3471s um we we try and emulate a lot of these
3474s those types of things other ways if we
3476s can up in theer if you think you stand a
3480s chance but I think there is room for in
3483s the future if we figure out a way to do
3484s it smoothly so a little bit more
3486s customization of the skill trees that I
3488s think could be really interesting um but
3490s if the system were designed specifically
3492s for
3503s that all right BK spoilers when when you
3507s guys vote for them it was it was one of
3509s the options you could have you could
3510s have had

3604s are um they're pretty flexible in what
3608s they uh what they can do while still
3611s having a consistent framework that that

3614s rutorial eyesee the
3616s system you just have to rutorial IE that
3618s specific
3619s mechanic and you can you can put all
3621s sorts of wacky rewards at the end of
3623s that you can't put elsewhere in the game
3625s so it's it's a it's a really powerful
3626s system for us and we do want to explore
3628s it more um also just getting more
3631s campaign skips in there um all these all
3634s those there's lots of great benefits
3635s that adding more dungeons does dungeons
3638s are missing a little bit of
3640s ux love that they need to
3643s really like shine and feel fun to to
3646s play um so we're we're we are making
3649s some changes to that this patch and next
3651s patch probably um just to like get that
3655s system feeling really tight before we
3657s add more dungeons to the game um but
3660s yeah that that is that is a um when we
3663s design dungeons we design them
3664s specifically with the intention that it
3666s is a um something that we would add more
3669s to so like as we were designing early
3671s end game systems we we were really
3673s interested in systems that could uh that
3675s L themselves to expansion really EAS um
3679s and dungeons are one of those things
3680s where we can we can maybe it's not a
3683s headlining feature but we're like hey
3685s this patch is like it's doing well but
3687s like maybe you can use just like a
3688s little bit of J to like just make it
3691s really exciting and like okay well let's
3693s let's add one more boss one more dungeon
3695s um and it's something that you can kind
3697s of like tack onto uh a patch if you need
3699s it um and then it's also a system where
3703s hey you know you could really go go deep
3705s with this and you could you could have
3706s an entire patch Focus around it um
3709s there's also a lot of room
3711s for just additions to the system overall
3714s that we can do that we we've planned out
3715s for long time stuff and it's it's a very
3719s uh expandable system it's very modular
3721s so we're really happy with it we're
3722s going to keep using
3724s it having said all of that you know
3727s there's there are no new dungeons coming
3728s in 1.1
3731s um but it is it is it's going to it's
3734s it's here to stay as a mechanic we
3735s really like
3739s it all right can you tell us a bit about
3741s the social culture in the team like do
3743s you get together and do team building
3745s activities or is it more formal get
3746s togethers well so um I I guess one big
3749s thing is it's entirely remote um so
3753s there's like our our get togethers
3755s happen like every couple
3758s years uh it usually consists of like 10%
3761s of the team and whoever's available
3763s because it can be pretty expensive to
3764s get everyone together when um that
3766s involves flights and hotels and um you
3769s know you're eating at restaurants and
3771s all these things so it's it is it's a
3772s pretty big um uh it's a pretty big
3775s expense to to get the team together it's
3777s not something that you can really expect
3778s um people uh to to like basically pay
3782s for a vacation um but but you're working
3785s at the same time so it's it is it's
3787s expensive for us as a company to to do
3789s get togethers um so we usually try and
3791s focus them around some other large event
3793s so for example um in August we had
3797s Gamescom
3799s and is actually September August or
3802s September those Gamescom it was like
3804s that was so much fun we got to go to
3805s German
3807s uh and and like there was was that was I
3809s think that was probably the biggest uh
3811s meeting we've had maybe second biggest
3813s one of the packes may have been bigger
3814s so we usually Focus around a convention
3816s or another large event something that
3818s we're like um we're showing off the game
3820s at the same time like there's a reason
3821s for us to be there is as a
3823s company um and try to do as much stuff
3826s at the same time as a as a you know
3828s group of friends in studio that does
3830s your stuff together um there are a few
3836s um there are a
3844s few oh thanks k sorry I just saw that uh
3846s there are you know like a few times
3848s we've you tried tried to get get people
3850s together a little bit um like outside
3853s there there's a few of us that live kind
3854s of close to each other that we've had a
3856s couple meetings and that sort of stuff
3860s um but it's it's for physical and person

3865s um we do have like online game nights
3869s where we um like just like even during
3872s work hours we'll like get together and
3874s play eoch or we'll play some other
3877s game you like so we we we try and have

3998s brilliant as well but it was the people

4045s well but it's fun

4050s silly this like bear that's like This
4051s calamity that's just charging through
4053s the world and meteors are falling from
4054s the sky you're helding the destruction

4137s are a lot of powerful ones that aren't

4140s to play because you set them on AutoCast
4142s and you forget about build it so you
4144s don't have to worry about

4150s um and so I'd really like to see some
4153s some ux and also just
4156s some like design adjustments to to pal I
4159s think there I think there's I think

4162s improvements there uh to make the
4164s gameplay more engaging and fun

4175s vials labeled as beer in the game yeah
4177s what was there a difference between the
4179s potions of vials and the beer vials I
4182s dropped from enemies is it a rare drop
4184s or was it removed it is a rare drop it
4185s was not removed it's still in the game I
4187s get one I I feel like I get one on
4189s stream like uh every other stream or so
4193s um when I when I when I've got a uh this
4196s is probably skewed heavily because the
4197s build I was playing on my Falconer um
4199s earlier in the cycle because it was
4202s dropping potions Every Which Way um so
4206s yeah there's certain builds that'll just
4207s drop more potions you'll eventually find
4208s them so it's just it's just a rare drop
4209s it doesn't do any it's mechanically
4211s identical to a potion it is the only
4213s thing difference between beer and
4214s Potions is the text on screen one say
4216s potion one say beer they are literally
4217s identical other than that um there is
4220s one other special rare drop um so like
4223s one in however many beer are are potions
4226s are beer and one in that same number of
4229s beer are actually something else so it's
4230s the same amount of Rarity a gain on top
4234s for the something else and if you've
4235s never seen it and want to stay a secret
4237s I won't say it um but you can ask in
4240s Discord or whatever it's it's pretty
4242s easy to find the answer you want to know
4245s but it's it's it's a like an in-game
4247s lore
4250s thing and they're and they're all
4251s identical there's no like extra healing
4253s there's no extra anything I'd love I
4256s don't know how hard I I feel like this
4257s is too hard to do cuz I think the um I'm
4259s pretty sure the tracking or like the
4261s decision of is it going to be beer or
4263s whatever or potion is strictly just like
4265s a client side visual check I don't think
4267s we track it on the server um I could be
4270s wrong about that but I think it's just
4271s like uh every once in a while one of
4272s them just named beer um but if we could
4276s track it I'd love to see like a stat of
4278s like um slash drunk like how much beer
4282s have you drunk in the game I think that'
4284s be a funny stat
4293s if it is strictly client side we
4294s couldn't track it
4297s though maybe we'll save it locally it's
4300s not as interesting you could fake it

4308s where you could swap notable passes
4310s between skills uh could create some very
4312s unique builds but also could could break

4320s customizing um of of the the skill the
4323s skill trees themselves um it doesn't
4326s really work with with how we've set this
4328s up cuz
4331s um that's a good
4334s example there's a lot there's a ton of
4338s nodes basically every know that's not
4340s just like a straight stat um is manually
4344s implemented in in the system So like
4349s um even just this like the the area
4352s difference on this it's not just like a
4353s stat that can be applied to some other
4356s thing it actually like we have to go
4357s into the mutator for Fury leap and like
4360s check the like find how the VFX is
4361s implemented make the VFX get bigger um
4365s check how the damage in for this ability
4368s is is handled in every situation where
4370s damage exists here um adjust it for that
4373s you know like there's it's it's it's man
4375s ually done for um for Fury leap and then
4378s like swipe might have an area thing as

4385s making nodes be able to like move from
4388s one tree to another um either you're
4391s like this specific node can be
4393s transferred to the fury leap tree
4395s specifically um and then you're just
4398s implementing that node again in the fury
4399s leap tree directly um but as soon as
4402s you're like this node can be moved to
4403s any tree or you're like seal this node
4405s in a gem and you apply that gem to
4407s another tree it it just it can't be done
4411s generically um so all of the things that
4414s we do uh for for skill trees like that
4418s are um you know
4421s designed with that specific skill in
4423s mind so this this is one of the
4425s advantages and disadvantages to having
4427s things be specific versus
4430s generic so like there's this freedom of
4434s combination that just exponentially
4436s grows and grows and grows when it can be
4438s generic um like you have with the skill
4440s jump system in PE which is fantastic
4442s this is like the this is the beauty of
4443s different systems like this is that they
4444s each have their own strengths and
4445s weaknesses um so there's certain things
4447s that our system does better and there's
4448s certain things that their system does
4449s better and and having them both exist I
4451s think is the fun part it's what makes
4453s things interesting I time that jump as
4456s poorly as
4459s possible like I know how long to delay
4461s this
4464s nope um
4468s but you know we are we are really
4469s interested in increasing the uh player
4473s agency in the skill treats so you know
4475s we're we're we're we're still we're
4477s working towards having more things that
4479s you can do to customize your skill trees
4483s um cuz we think that there's there is
4485s room for um more more more depth and
4489s complexity there without going too far

4506s happens has gone on long enough

4567s um and I think a lot of times with this
4570s this goes back to that specific versus
4571s generic thing as well again so when
4572s we're dealing with a lot of items
4574s there's a lot of um those items can be
4577s used in other classes so the support
4579s kind of bleeds across a bit um and once
4582s you see people using items for certain
4585s um um for certain builds and certain
4587s classes sometimes you're like hey maybe
4588s we should add support for that I think
4590s sometimes you get a little bit of that
4592s that support bleed cross classes through
4595s items as a conduit
4598s um but we do try and put mechanically
4601s interesting and unique things on um dots
4603s where we
4608s can there not always the case but we do
4610s we do try and make them be a little bit
4613s different play a little bit different
4614s even if it's just the feel of how
4616s they're presented

4825s other games that we look at I don't I
4826s don't I have no idea all the games that
4827s we look at for Boss design stuff
4831s um I kind I do like looking outside of
4835s the genre directly for Boss design stuff
4837s as well cuz I think there's like
4838s interesting mechanics that you can pull
4840s from in other
4842s games um I what good example is right

4853s Spire one of the the bosses where I'm
4855s like that did a cool thing was years

4874s mechanics is usually the um the style
4878s the problem to solve

5533s pointed dexterity per point up to eight
5535s points uh at Five Points you get
5536s increased Critical Strike chance per
5540s dexterity of 8% so if you have um 10
5545s exterity what comes with eight but if
5547s you have 10 total dexterity with at
5549s least five points in this node um you do
5551s get 80% increased Critical Strike chance
5556s total there so it is there's there's a
5558s lot of scaling for dexterity there in uh
5560s in in crit power on Spell
5563s blade which I think is really good for
5565s just like um you know adding a little
5568s bit of
5570s extra uh utility for incidental
5573s attributes I think that that makes sense
5575s so like um you know dexterity isn't
5578s something that will scale a ton of stuff
5581s in spellblade but there's like just
5583s enough and just enough theming there
5585s that it's like makes it worthwhile to

5594s I think so situations where like yeah

6149s um a lot of fights get easier if you
6152s have a fight of 10 things and you kill
6154s one of them um now you're fighting nine
6155s things and the fight's easy and this and
6158s that like that
6161s natural um slowdown in in danger and
6164s tension that that the tension like
6166s naturally in a fight with many enemies
6168s just like naturally ratchets down which
6170s is the kind of the opposite of what you
6172s want you want to fight to get more
6173s intense more intense more intense and
6175s then you then you overcome it and
6176s suddenly it's like oh it's all done um I
6180s know what you're saying here is like
6181s well then why have something happen
6182s after it dies um and and a lot of the
6184s time is because when there's many
6186s enemies not the like the one big bad the
6188s the big baddy rarely has on death
6192s effects I think that's very
6194s rare and usually scripted for some
6197s reason um
6204s way going this way um but yeah I think I
6207s think it's just it's it's another
6208s dynamic in the fight that's interesting
6209s and having having more ways that the
6212s enemy can hurt you I think is you know
6224s interesting um I think it's the the
6227s problem with it usually is when it
6230s happens
6231s instantly that's usually the big problem
6237s I know we generally try and put a delay
6240s on
6242s it so you get a
6245s warn I think a lot of times when when
6248s cuz it's funny you mention this when I
6249s when mentioned my my death it's the
6251s stigan dolls
6253s in2 which are on death kill
6257s effects but they happen instantly and
6259s they're so fragile that you can kill
6261s them by mistake think those those those
6263s are the two times where it's really
6265s frustrating is when you don't realize
6266s it's going to happen um and there's no
6269s there's no time to
6278s prepare I love here's a mechanics I've
6281s been playing you two a bunch lately and
6284s um telekinesis if you don't know this if
6286s you're on a Sor you can use the Ability
6288s telekinesis to interact with objects so
6290s you can open your stash from like really
6292s far away you can act you can um activate
6295s waypoints from really far away you can
6296s activate portals from really far away um
6298s you can't talk to people so you can't
6300s open shops from really far away but like
6302s there there's a lot of stuff you can do
6303s that's really fun um and I think that's
6306s a really one one of the ways that D2
6309s really shines I think is in those class
6311s specific
6313s um little little quirks little uh unique
6318s effects like um the Assassin doesn't
6320s need keys to open locked chests in D2 um
6324s and there's some of those class specific
6325s effects that just fell right on their
6327s face and do almost
6328s nothing but I really like I really like
6330s them I wish we had more things like
6339s that into the Temple of lagon the bows
6343s of
6346s deity this way this way I I can go this
6349s way this way this way this way
6356s but this
6359s way
6364s um also Aon if you're using a time
6366s machine for that you need to sort out
6369s your
6372s priorities like not getting a spell from
6374s school number
6376s one uh all
6379s right uh less of a question more of a
6382s recommendation for f fun boss design the
6384s boss in Hades and curse the dead gods
6387s are my favorite I boss fights highly
6390s recommend Hades is a fantastic game Love

6430s there was there were no cases that I
6431s could buy that were small enough to fit
6433s in that cabinet so I I actually 3D
6436s printed uh a like basically just like a
6439s frame case for uh for the computer to
6442s live in and it's it's it's the weirdest
6444s design thing ever and it's only useful
6446s for this one specific cabinet but um
6451s anyways uh I think I think Hades would
6454s be a fun game to

6466s perspective versus dead perspective on
6468s which classes needed help this week uh
6470s is from both perspectives gain but which
6472s classes do you feel are are
6474s overtuned and need scaling back um I
6478s mean I I think
6481s the the the hard part about this is that
6483s like uh the whole class if if I say a
6487s class I'm not saying that there are that
6490s every single thing about that class is
6491s overpowered and need to just like open
6494s up their paths and be like negative 50%
6496s damage or anything like that like that's
6497s insane
6500s um
6502s but um yeah there are some classes that
6505s have a few ways to build them that are
6506s getting out of
6508s control and I think it's kind of easy to
6511s see some of those um in in the builds
6514s you see like the build guides you see
6515s pop up online where it's like 3,000
6518s corruption like okay there's some
6520s mechanic here is getting out of hand
6522s there's there's something that's causing
6524s this to balloon out of
6527s control that's not supposed to be like
6530s that um and I think I think you see a
6533s lot of that on um a few specific builds
6536s in run
6538s Master you kind of see it you see it in
6541s a lot of places there there's there's I
6542s think few masteries that are completely
6544s unaffected by it um this this sort of
6547s phenomena but like R Master you see it a
6550s lot uh there's the falcon or stuff you
6551s see it a lot
6556s um I think those those are probably the
6558s two biggest culprits I think
6564s those those are the two builds I've
6566s tried
6567s myself and gone nuts
6571s with um but it pops up elsewhere
6581s too all five skills leveled up

6604s on uh intentional use of discreet and
6607s chunky break points for combat mechanics
6610s or other game systems think the El to
6611s fast for cast rate increased attack
6613s speed yeah I think that I think it's
6615s actually really good um I think having

6621s um so so an example of this that we
6624s actually use is is haste um with with
6627s with move speed because if you get um an
6631s extra and I actually pitched something
6633s last week maybe two weeks ago um we're
6635s not doing but
6637s um I I think there is Merit in this
6640s style of like like threshold breakpoint
6644s improvements where there's where there's
6647s sort of like a uh like either nothing
6649s nothing nothing or slow slow slow and
6651s then big um and I think that's I think
6654s that is very
6657s useful and I think it makes for an
6659s interesting puzzle so you get the
6660s situations where you're like um okay I
6663s need to have I want to hit the um I want
6666s to hit that that nine frame break point
6669s on my sorc so I got to get that 63%
6671s increased faster cast rate um and so
6673s you're like okay well like i' I've got
6675s these these rings that have 10% on the
6677s Mee and I got this amul that's got 20%
6678s on it and I got my weapon that's got 30%
6681s on it it's like okay well that like
6683s almost gets me there but I got to find a
6684s little bit elsewhere somewhere and and
6686s it's that like that puzzle piece aspect
6688s of it I really
6690s like and then also the feeling piece of
6693s it as well where you're like um okay you
6696s you increase your movement speed by 10%
6697s you keep going 10% faster you increase
6698s your mov by 10% you're 10% faster you do
6701s that three or four times and there's
6702s these like you don't notice 10% that

6764s tangible um immediate feedback of I did
6767s a thing I got better look how I'm better

6786s same idea that I think is I think that I

6797s being a good thing it was a bad idea but

6815s don't want to use it as well because you

6820s um you you do also want to have that

6830s that 9 to eight break point you get 10%

6833s literally nothing um and unless you know
6836s that those break points exist and where
6837s they are and how you want to how you're
6838s building towards them um having an item
6840s that just does literally nothing feels

6845s good and bad things about

7364s custom laid out zones for for lots of
7366s different things um and there's other
7368s things that we're doing that we really
7369s want to have a procedural content

7372s working on that it will be added to the
7375s game uh any of youall play on Steam deck
7378s playing offline it's being able to pick
7379s it up whenever I can and put it down
7381s when I need uh to makes the game even
7383s more addictive yeah uh uh I I don't I
7387s think one of us has the steam deck maybe
7388s maybe two or three of them I don't know
7390s about but yeah there's there's a very
7391s small steam deck contingency still in
7393s the in the on the dev team but um we are
7395s actively developing steam deck I know we
7397s ordered one specifically for developing
7399s on um so we are we are working on it um
7402s it's not officially supported yet but it
7403s is in it's in the
7406s works um so we are getting there I do I
7409s I I think thing things like having steam
7412s deck I think is really uh it'll be
7415s really good for the game overall and

7441s balance changes are outside of builds
7444s that are obviously way too strong or way
7446s too weak you expect things to be shaken

7461s Buffs um where like builds that we
7463s weren't really
7466s um builds that maybe were like B tier
7469s builds um and because there was some
7471s like C tier build or D tier build that
7473s were like hey let's give it a little bit
7475s of a bump um and it just like happened
7477s to use the same things also gets a bump
7479s up to like an a tier build type thing so
7481s I think you'll see that a lot
7484s um but you know builds that are and and
7487s there are there's always a lot of things
7489s so like just the fact that we're adding
7491s in a new PIN boss content like that
7493s alone takes the tier list and just
7495s scrambles it because the the the tools
7497s and that you're going to need to fight
7498s that boss are different tools and you're
7500s going to have needed to fight other
7501s bosses in the past um so you know like
7504s there's that that alone is going to
7505s shake things up um even if we didn't
7508s make any balance changes but we
7510s are
7512s um so yeah I'm I'm not sure how sweeping
7515s it'll be but
7517s um it'll be a good
7520s Chun uh are the next classes be
7523s something completely new or specs added
7525s to existing ones um likely you'll see
7528s specs added to existing ones so like new
7529s masteries showing up first um and down
7532s the road we will start to add new base
7533s classes as well but new masteries first
7535s because they're much less uh involved
7537s and we can add other things to the game
7539s at the same time but a whole new base
7540s glass takes like a huge chunk of the
7543s studio and it's just like that's all
