Hey all!

I am just looking for some opinions since 1.0 is about 3ish months away.

I enjoy ARPGs a lot. I play a good amount of Grim Dawn, and am looking for an ARPG to throw into the mix. I never could get into POE due to coming so late to the game. The Skill Tree and the seasons and everything just makes me feel overwhelmed. I am sure it is all super easy, but I am used to Torchlight and Diablo III. I also do not enjoy the gem slotting system of POE. Totally a me thing.

Does it make sense to jump into Last Epoch now, or should I just hold off and I wait? I really enjoyed running Seasons in Diablo III and the end game loop felt right for me.

I am going through the forums and trying to understand where this game sits. Somethings give me pause, such as the game not having all "Chapters" with 1.0. Does this also mean there really is no end game loop? As someone who has little frame of reference I am trying to figure out what is there already?

My biggest fear is I pick up this game before 1.0 comes out, and I just rush through and kind of tire myself out before 1.0 comes out. I did this with the original Darkest Dungeon. By the time 1.0 came out, I was just kind of over the game despite there being a lot of changes and things to come.

Basically, is there enough here for a satisfying loop? Would I be kneecapping myself if I jump in now?

Sorry for the two part question. If it helps, I enjoy Grim Dawn's "Endgame" so you can have a slight idea.

Thanks all!

EDIT: I have looked at some of the other questions posted, and no one really has addressed what I am asking.

WHAT IS THE END GAME LOOP? DOES IT MATTER THAT THE GAME IS SAYING THAT THEY WON'T BE "CHAPTER COMPLETE" EVEN WITH 1.0? IS THERE A LEGIT FEAR IF I DUMP 200 HOURS INTO THIS BEFORE FEB THAT I WILL BURN OUT, JUST LIKE I DID WITH DARKEST DUNGEON EARLY ACCESS?

I haven't read all the replies so I'm not sure if someone else answered already but I think that the key piece of missing info is that end game starts before max level.

So you technically don't have to even complete the campaign that is already there to start the end game loop.

We have 3 main end game activities and these are the super watered down descriptions.

Monolith of Fate: half way between D3 GRs and PoE maps

Dungeons: themed challenges with a special mechanic, boss fight and reward.

Arena: endless and challenge modes of waves of enemies that get progressively harder. Similar to Crucible from GD.

Just copy maps, it is the only thing that makes POE endgame best of all games and makes me want to play it even though I don't want to go through all its bloat. Maps itemization, maps as loot, it is so good.

No reason not to copy it, they found the formula, good for them. Everyone should copy and develop it more.

Apart from the legal issues of just copying something, many game systems work in concert with each other. Transplanting a major system from one game to another unchanged is risky at best. Sometimes it works but regardless, we set out to make our own game so we are developing our own end game. I agree that maps are phenomenal in PoE and they do several things really well that monoliths don't. We are working very hard to hit those weaknesses of the monolith system so that we can have our core end game on that same level of awesome.
