Hello, I'm intrested in the game but price isn't quite inviting, so I wanted to ask if it's worth it in current stare. I loved Diablo 2 and played quite a lot of PoE in my time. Last Epoch seems interesting to me mostly because of Primalist class (love nature based archetypes). I'm casual player, just looking into some arpgs to just chill out sometimes. If I buy this game on Steam do I have access right away, because I've seen comment that after buying it you still need to pay for the beta access?

I personally do not think its worth buying. There's some issues with the game that i just cant get over, like the lack of custom looks on armor. You look the same at lvl 1 or lvl 35 or whatever. Terrible design choice. Can't get into the game like that.

To me the looks of my character - and especially how it starts shabby and evolves to being awesome - is probably one of the top 3 most important things for me in a ARPG.

Heyo!

So, to clarify; this is not a design choice. Last Epoch is in Early Access, and we haven't yet created all of the art we need for the game.

Each class has 3d models for multiple armour sets already, and we'll be creating and implementing more as we find the time to do so.

Is it like a full set that changes depending on some stat like it did in D2 with defense value? Or will individual gear pieces be distinct from each other (like how it is in newer games like D3)

And if its the 2nd of the two, how many sets do you roughly think its fair to expect of the game when you finish early access? The looks on my character is one of the most important things to me in a arpg. I still login to D3 or PoE sometimes and just play around with transmogs. Is that something you will cater towards or am i better off looking elsewhere to satiate that transmog lust?

Each individual gear piece (say, Gloves, Boots) will have its own 3d model. We design them in sets because 1) it makes sense to have a similar number of each piece, and, 2) players often like for their character to have a consistent, coherent look.

I'm not sure whether your second question is focusing exclusively on default appearances or would include armor set MTX? If you'd only asked about Diablo III I would have assumed the former, and if you'd only cited Path of Exile as an example I'd likely have assumed the latter. It's hard to offer a specific number - particularly on the weekend when it's harder to poke other members of the team - but I'd note that we plan to be adding new item bases and additional MTX for years (hopefully decades!) after we release 1.0.

Thank's for the response. Reading my previous post, i can see it was worded a bit ambiguously. In any case, if the art style is pleasing, i will definently give it another attempt when the game is further along. I personally enjoy both D3 and PoE's artstyles and gameplays a whole lot, the only reason i stopped PoE is the terrible optimization and D3 has just gotten stale after years with no new real content.

I'm pretty sure i've seen a roadmap for your early access development a while back, but i cant find it at the moment. Do you have a roadmap, that indicates what beta-patch will focus a bit more on rolling out some of these armor-look related things? Or will that be something the art team gradually introduces over the entire beta process?

Edit: Regarding MTX's I do not mind those at all, as long as they are cosmetic as they are in PoE (Although some people would argue the Stash MTX are mandatory in PoE). Although i expect to get way more good looking armors/weapons in the standard pool since its a pay-to-play game and not a free-to-play game.

We do have a forecast, though that isn't on it due to both being something that will be ongoing for quite a while, and also something that's worked on in between other tasks - and thus a bit harder to tie down to a specific time.
