[2020] Is there a non-Steam version of Game - I never want to have to play via Steam either offline or online

I am aware the single player is offline but does that mean there is, and always will be, a stand alone client that is NOT linked to Steam at all. I have GrimDawn via GOG for example. Can I get and play Last Epoch the same way ? I really hope so ! I see it has a MacOS client already, which POE doesn't so would be off to a great start if I can get the game without having to deal with Steam.
