[2023] Not a spellblade but want to use a sword as a mage, recommendations?

Not sure this is a good idea or even viable as my character grows— but I do not want to be a spellblade. The gameplay feels boring to me- I do want to use meteor and black hole, but I don’t want to use a staff or wand, I’d much rather use a sword. That said I guess I’m crippling my stats that way unless there’s an item that makes this doable? I saw frost claw gets a bonus from melee damage, is that worth it? I am thinking I want to use it so… thanks!
