Yup, the inevitable pre-purchase questions are here. I've looked through the wiki (which is apparently outdated?) to see if any of the classes look like something I would want to play, and I saw a few possibilities. Figure I will ask a couple questions real fast since it seems that there might be some. I avoided looking at too much though to avoid potential spoilers so I apologize if these questions are answered elsewhere.

There are generally three class styles I like to play. 1: Facetank the world. 2: Let pets play the game for me while I buff them. 3: Passively murder the world. #3 is generally rare since it would get boring for most, but since I have neuropathy I actually love it. The only game I've ever seen that actually had an effective one though was the Eastern Sun mod for D2, a blizzard druid that basically walked around and things died (other than bosses, had to work for those). Technically PoE did as well but it required a small fortune to setup, at least back when I used to play.

Anyway, would anything match those setups? I am guessing Sentinel is the best for pure tanking fun, likely Paladin? Maybe block? I saw a lot of block in the Forge Guard tree as well but didn't see much in the way of healing/sustain like Paladin had. Can the melee builds in this game actually tank or is it more like "melee" where you have to kite everything because you just die if you try and stay in melee.

Pets seem like Necro or one of the Primalists maybe? I did see a lot of complaints while browsing this subreddit about pet Necro being incredibly weak though, and it seems like Primalist is really limited to how many pets they can get? Leaning a bit more towards the melee setup honestly. I haven't found an ARPG that really felt amazing with pets since D2...kinda sad really.

As for #3 I have zero ideas, I don't know enough about the game to even make a guess if something like that is viable, or even exists in the first place.

Honestly, I mostly just want to play the most immortal character I can. I generally don't care about damage (as long as it isn't abysmal) but I just like being super tanky since my reaction time is so slow thanks to the neuropathy, so I tend to prefer having as many passives as possible with as few active skills as possible. .

Lastly, is there a difference between getting the $35 supporter back vs buying it on Steam?

Anyway, thanks in advance! Sorry for so many questions.

I'm sure others can add to this, but my 1st thought for your face tank was a sentinel with the counter attack passive with a healthy amount of life steal. That should keep you pretty stable in melee range for most things. Throw in block and lunge, plus whatever heavy hitting attack you like.

You are correct that high end pets build are currently a bit weaker compared to other builds, but time will tell.

You are in luck for your #3 passive build. Check out some posted builds/videos on aura of decay (AOD) necro. It's a toggled aura that poisons everything around you 3 times a second, and yourself once a second. Poison damage basically stacks exponentially, so the damage gets pretty good. With enough health regen and poison resist you can stay in your own aura forever, or you could build it for even more damage if your willing to toggle it on and off now and then to allow the poison to fall off yourself. Very satisfying, easy build to play, once you have the right gear in place.

No difference in the steam version vs the supporter pack, except steam purchasers having to reach out to support to get some of the fluff that comes with the supporter pack. I purchased off steam, but i should have bought the pack from their website instead. As far as I know they still get you the steam key.

Heyo! People shouldn't actually need to reach out to support - that said, we're always happy to assist if any issues arise. :)
