I meet the recommended requirements for the game (which is an issue by itself, the requirements seem awfully high compared to D4 when this game looks worse without a doubt), yet the stuttering won't stop. I've resorted to running the game at absolute terrible settings (900p very low settings) and the FPS drops during monoliths still won't stop.

For reference, I'm running RTX 3060 with Ryzen 5 5600x. Anybody got any solutions? There's no way I should have to resort to playing at these settings when I have no issue running way more demanding titles.

We have a lot of ongoing efforts to continue optimizing, some large some small. To give some specifics

  • we've very recently started an effort to pack textures differently for all visual effects across the game which should reduce their memory footprint substantially
  • we've just signed a highly regarded console porting studio to work in an integrated manner with our team with their main focus being performance optimization which is needed as consoles have strict requirements here
  • we've got an internal optimization team spun up and finding targets on a weekly basis to chew through empowered with newly licensed analysis software
  • we've got developers with a working prototype of skin meshed renderer batching for a many enemies of the same type on screen. This could be a very impactful update that would even allow for larger "swarming" events that are very performant
  • we are looking to implement addressables which would drastically reduce the amount needing to be loaded at the start of the game which is hurting our boot-times
  • we're also reviewing in game bug reports where the community finds things that are making their memory start to climb. When we have the specific targets in hand it's typically pretty easy to fix them. For example, I see a callout of the Arena in this thread which I'll take back to the team to investigate after this. It's very likely already something they're targeting but I'll personally double check.

When we started and we were an 8-man after-hours team admittedly performance optimization wasn't goal #1 to bootstrap and get this thing off the ground, but we're continuing to invest heavily in improving performance from a fundamental standpoint. We're keenly aware of the needs there and are working on it aggressively right now.

Thanks all
