[2022] Riot is giving fans less every year for watching Worlds

Heya Reddit! I'm Riot 5oda, and I work on the team that brings you all LOL Esports Drops. With Worlds 2022 Group Stage in the bag, I want to take a second to respond to some of the comments here and elsewhere!

For starters, thank you for watching and participating! Every year we try something a little different in the design, with the goal being to reward you all, our awesome fans, with some little prizes along the roller coaster of Worlds! Worlds is a fun time without prizes, but who doesn't love prizes? We love gifting little meme-inspired icons and emotes, and we know you all love to collect them across the globe! This year we decided to level that up a little with a nicer way to screenshot and share those drops, and the team and I have been cracking up at the memes and the way you all are using them to tell the story of Worlds this year, both on social media and in game.

The hyper-rare Tiffany & Co. Chromas and Ward this year are something new that we wanted to try! We worked with them to come up with three chromas that are both reflective of the champions and fit super nicely with the world-class traits of their jewelry. We decided that these ultra-rare chromas would be an awesome way to celebrate our new trophy (have you gotten to see it in person?) and wanted to give them away to the best fans in the world: you all. You can't buy these, and they will not be dropped again for a while, making them exceptionally rare when you equip them on Summoner's Rift or Howling Abyss. There are a few more planned since Crystal Rose Akshan dropped on October 16th, so join us on lolesports.com to get the rest throughout Knockouts and Finals!

When we dropped the article, it mentioned that we were going to distribute codes. As it turns out, that didn't feel awesome so we worked together with a ton of Rioters internally and made it so that we could get these chromas to you regardless of if you own the skin or the champion. You can see it, and when you earned it, in your Chromas tab of the game client. We want you all to have them, not only as an awesome addition to your skin and chroma arsenal but also as a reminder that you were there for Worlds 2022, which so far has been quite the banger.

We're doing them one at a time over QF and SF, so if you're logged in and all that, you will have a chance! If you were watching and had an issue (usually it's something with ad blockers), definitely reach out to Player Support and they can help you with this one! We're dropping Crystal Rose Zyra (Tiffany & Co), Crystal Rose Swain (Tiffany & Co), and the new Worlds trophy war (a few teams have been using it at worlds as well so far!).

Hey Spideraxe! Yeah, we try to target the last non-tiebreaker game of the stage for these, but you'll see more happening as we get into Knockouts. :)

Heya k-tsura! That is a great callout, and we're working on something to make that easier in the future! We want you all to get reward and watch the way you want to.

Irarius, I hear you! If you contact player support and let them know what happened, they might be able to help you out.

We created three chromas, one for Akshan, Zyra, and Swain. :) We dropped Akshan on the 16th, and will be dropping Zyra and Swain, in that order, during quarterfinals and semifinals. The drop also goes to everyone who is viewing when the drop happens, as long as you are logged in, opted in, and have all your ad blockers disabled per the support articles.

heya crashmore! so, there are basically a few kinds of drops, you can get all kinds of things. Capsules, codes, loot codes, and chromas. The exclusive Tiffany & Co chromas are currently dropping as individual chromas, and we're spacing them out over the remainder of the tournament. Akshan was dropped right at the start of the last game of group stage, and we're looking to drop Zyra's chroma at around the same time in quarterfinals. Make sure you and your gf are logged in and opted in to the drops on lolesports.com and all your ad blockers are disabled! If you are watching, you'll get Crystal Rose Zyra (Tiffany & Co) chroma when it drops! It'll show up directly in your inventory on the Chromas tab regardless of owning the champ or skin.

The code issue is something we're working on updating. We ran into a bug, to be frank, that would have made those codes break for everyone, and decided that was worse than auto-fulfilling it. We're sorry it was confusing but we realize getting the gift is better than thinking you did get it but not getting it. kek.

As for the choice on chromas, that is an excellent idea and we'll work on seeing how we can do that in the future. I am a zyra main myself and am also desperate to get it, even though I work here. :P

Heya Raphel, thanks for the feedback! I agree, we really wanted the codes to work but there were issues that we couldn't get corrected in time, and the results would have meant you would think you got the chroma when you didn't. Worlds is something we can't postpone for issues like this, so we pivoted quickly to get the chroma out to you all. We're going to revisit that when Worlds is over to make the Experience better next time, especially now that we know there was an issue.

Hey Throdien, if you're going to be in Atlanta and have a ticket, reach out to player support and they can grant it to you since you, well, were there. :)

They are correct in that you have to be logged in when the drop happens. We don't officially support having multiple windows open, but if you were watching at the time of the drop and were time synced properly, you would have gotten it. Sometimes it fails if you switch players suddenly as well.

Hey friends! Riot 5oda here again! Let's talk about Tiffany & Co Chromas. :)

As part of our special engagement, we're dropping each of the three Chromas one time at Worlds this year. In order to get them, you must watch from lolesports.com, be logged in, and opted in to get rewards. Additionally, Ad blockers hate us sometimes, so make sure you're getting other drops as well, or check out our player support article on drops.

The rules of our promotion are relatively simple: simply be there watching live, with your player synced properly to the live broadcast, and you'll get the drop when it happens. Then, we will fulfill it directly to your account. You'll know it's working when you see a little check box on the bottom.

Some FAQs from questions y'all have asked: - You have to be watching on lolesports.com to get them (in most regions). - When they drop, they go directly to your account, even if you don't own the skin or champion. - Our agents in Player Support cannot simply grant you the chroma if you ask. As much as they would love to, they can only do so if you had technical issues that we can see or if you were at a live venue and can prove it. Please don't flood them with requests as they're trying to take care of everyone across the globe. :) - We dropped Akshan's Crystal Rose (Tiffany & co.) chroma on October 16th, so if you got it, you're one of the few in the world who have it for a while. :) - We will be dropping the Crystal Rose (Tiffany & Co) chroma for Zyra in Quarterfinals and the chroma for Crystal Rose (Tiffany & Co) Swain in Semifinals, both around the last day of the stage. - The exclusive Ward will be distributed at Finals along with a lot of other things! - Some of you like to collect and have multiple windows open. We don't officially support having multiple accounts in multiple tabs...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We have seen success when fans use two different browsers, one for each account, but that is just what i've seen and is in no way formally supported. Kind of like attack-speed Braum, or tank Yuumi. - We are not giving away chroma codes that can be shared and are updating our articles about that globally. We ran into challenges with doing it and decided to make sure you all got the chromas if you were there. We'll do this differently next time, but for this year, if you get the chroma, it's yours forever. :)

That is good context. I'll see if we can do another since it wasn't super clear.

In this case, if you're having stream issues and followed all the rules in the player support article, I would reach out to them to see if they can help you out. I personally find Chrome, Firefox, and Safari work the best, and you need all the ad blockers and all that disabled.

Thanks! We always run into little snags when we try something new, like these chromas, so we really appreciate the feedback on them!

if you follow the rules i posted, and make sure you get other drops, you'll get it. There are cases where people don't because their browser is blocking ads, so make sure you're all set up on lolesports.com. We also do a drop around the beginning of the first game of each stage as a way to let fans test and make sure they're all set up, so log in then for sure!

Hey there! I was able to get the intention of what you wanted to tell us! A lot goes into the planning and creation of content for Worlds, and every year we listen to fans like you and others to learn and make choices. Thanks to your post, I was able to help clarify some things, even if those things don't make everyone happy. The world is a big place, and I'm personally thankful for people like you for being honest about how you feel, even if it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Thanks for being a fan and a player! What get's me up out of bed everyday, other than my bladder, is getting to work on this stuff for fans like you all.

huh. reddit things i guess. :/ I'm working with player support on this as well. The chroma should have gone to everyone who was watching live when it dropped (and, of course, who's ad blockers were not on). It wasn't random, it was only to fans who were there when it happened. If you were, but we weren't capturing you due to a technical issue with ads, that would be the most likely reason if I had to guess.

oof. so, maybe it's operator error on my side. (need a sweat blob emoji here) I was basically saying that we do different kinds of drops, and the chromas are not part of the capsules, so they're separate. some drops give you capsules, the others might give you a code, and then others will just deposit icons, emotes, wards, and now chromas right into your account.

heya gamie1543, the rule is that you need to be there. I do know that the timing was late, especially for anyone east of New York, USA, so I'm looking into seeing if we can drop Akshan again with more head's up. I've been communicating when the next ones are coming, so you'll have a better chance at them. I'll keep you all posted!

Heya Klort. We looked at the schedule and decided to help you all out by moving that drop to the first game of the last series of Quarterfinals and Semifinals. Basically, Zyra's chroma will drop at the first game of the last series of Quarterfinals, then Swain's will drop on the first game of the last series of Semifinals. It's not perfect, but it's the earliest I could do. :)

Make sure you are following all the rules and setup tips with your browser. 99% of the issues fans seem to have is with ad blockers preventing them from getting drops. We have some steps in the player support article and some FAQs to help as well in the original Drops article.

Hot off the presses: We're re-dropping that chroma at the beginning of the first series of semi-finals, so you'll get another chance. Check out my update above. :)
