This same Rioter was playing around with an Asol rework years ago as a personal project. I wonder if it will be somewhat similar.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Aurelion_Sol_mains/comments/bu6n69/2_aurelion_sol_which_possible_indicates_a_rework/ep8dmvh/

Passive: Something like his current E active that activates after moving straight for a while kind of like Taliyah? Except you have full control of him like Kayn wall walking.

Q: Stand in one spot and breath fire. It follows your cursor and costs mana per second to continue spewing fire. Leaves a burning trail in its wake. Idk what that trail does yet. BTW you can use this ability on towers because star fire melts them in my head and A Sol has a line or something about not caring about them.

W: Live R but resized and re-balanced to be a basic ability. So basically a rectangular Syndra E. :)

E: Create a star at target location that fades away after X amount of seconds. The star can be overloaded by casting Q/W on it causing it to explode and stun people caught in it after a brief delay (E->W them into the star and then burn them with Q).

R: Create a blackhole at target location that grows in size over time (max size after 3 seconds maybe for a size as large as Nunu ult). Enemies in it while it grows are slowed. Reactivating the ability collapses it and pulls everybody and all stars to the center also making them explode.

This is that Rioter in the video πŸ˜‰

It was a joint effort, but our visual designer Tee (y'all might remember her as Mom Cat from patch notes past) came up with the final!

Rob is ASol's producer!

So how do the producer and designer roles differ?

As the producer, my responsibilities include things like making sure that what we're making is on track to hitting our project goals, making sure that folks on the team empowered and able to do their work to the best of their ability, and making sure we stay on schedule.

For example, we didn't have a super easy way to scale the size of the VFX of the spell you see in the video, so one of my tasks was understanding what issues the artist was facing and working with them and our engineer on the project to figure out what solutions existed, what the feasibility of them were, and which we should go for.

The designer, as the name implies, is responsible for designing Aurelion's abilities. This isn't to say they're off on their own though. The development process is very collaborative so everybody on the team is always sharing ideas, feedback, etc. :) The designer may bring an idea for a spell to the table, and then work with our artists (VFX, SFX, animation) to figure out the best way to bring the spell to life!

I love content like this. The behind the scenes Irelia, Morde, & Panth rework videos were amazing. Would love a more consistent strategy when it comes to pushing out content of this nature.

Thanks! So to pull the curtain back a little (get outta here RiotAether don't DM me on Slack ty), the team that handles this type of video content (the team I'm on, which also includes written content like Champ Insights) has ramped up a lot in terms of size and scalability. But we are a Riot-wide team, meaning we handle all of Riot's games and products like music.

All of this is to say, we're working on itTM

But we also need to work on other games ;)

Oh shit Riot wide eh? That's crazy to be fair. Knowing the communities for each game and what comes with that (the memes, language, game knowledge etc...) must be a cool challenge. Prior to you telling me that there is one team handling comms/content for Riots' Games holistically, one could've safely deduced that each game has their own "localized" team.

It's a fun challenge! I play all of Riot's games, though. And our team does as well for the most part.

So each game/product has their own mini community team, with a lead, community managers, social media folks, influencer managers, etc. You get the idea. But the team that actively creates this content is central because our work is super niche!

I personally really liked this video. It felt really polished way to get across a small bite sized dev thought, not to mention the hype it gave for Asol CGU.

We really need more dev content like this. League is a massive game, it deserves to shine this way, the devs deserve to be better represented in the work they're doing.

Thanks! We're experimenting with some new video formats. Glad you like this one!

We definitely want the devs to speak more, and this is one way of doing that!

So since it’s riot wide is the rework dropping on wildrift the same time as pc?

The Editorial Content Team--the team that makes videos like this (and lol pls and Season Start)--is Riot-wide. The champion updates are not. Sorry for confusion!

So you guys are basically an internal agency for the other riot teams to call on when they need your services right

Ya! Except we come up with a lot of our own ideas and approach the teams to create them alongside them. But occasionally they come to us with requests that we help out on.

Happy to see that Rioters are just as obsessed with their Champions as we are.

By the way, I never knew just how much I needed a Runeterra themed Restaurant/CafΓ©/Theme park/Anything until I saw the Bilgewater Brew.

Rob is next level, but I think players would be surprised just how dedicated so many of us are to certain characters. I mean I have 2 million points on Yasuo alone, and nearing 1 million on Orianna. We love our champions, that's for sure!

Small point of feedback: while I liked seeing all the coffee transitions, felt a bit like too many? Idk if that's just me being nit picky cause I know you did it in between each question/point. It just felt like there were too many.

That's great feedback and we will 100% take it into consideration! I appreciate it! :D
