After reading the post of Saturdays semi-finals and having attended both, I felt like I had to agree on most points provided in the post. There was some arguing going on in the comments, but I think the biggest take-away was this; local management of the arena just didn’t give a f*ck.

However, after the post’s criticism, I feel like the Riot events team really stepped up in an attempt to pick up the slack!

Seating issues were resolved by showing a big-ass map on the arena-screens, along with hanging some “you are here”-maps around the walkway.

Food issue was “resolved” as best they could (who knows a caterer they can call on Sunday morning to just show up in the afternoon?) by making it more clear where the food trucks were.

They even went around to put toilet paper where it belongs !! But they didn’t stop there.. they also provided soap and paper towels to was hands after !

Criticism about safety and smoking were also picked up on, as they made very clear they were not happy with smokers smoking inside (“it’s fine if you decided you want to die young; your neighbor doesn’t”). The security announcements were read by the same dude that was in Rotterdam to hype up the crowd an you know what? He was there to hype up the crowd.

All in all, the experience today just felt a lot better than yesterday. The roadshow team really tried to pick up all the slack caused by the local organizer of the arena. But then again, I got engaged today so maybe I just saw everything through rose-colored glasses :)

Hope you all enjoyed the show - all I hoped for was 5 games and boy were they good !!

Thank you very much for attending and the kind words. My feet are killing me and I am falling asleep now, so good night to all of you!

How did any of it get through in the first place? You're hosting an event without even doing any prep.

We will definately hold a retrospective meeting to see what went wrong, why and how to fix it in the future. We do this after every event.

One issue I can talk about right now is the toilet situation. Usually the inventory comes with the venue rent as an included service. I was made aware by a local partner that this will not be the case here, so through them I booked and paid for cleaning and toilet inventory. Turns out it was not provided to all of the public toilets. We had a meeting with the partner after we were made aware of this and fixed it for the next day. This is no finger pointing though, I should have personally checked all of toilets before the first show day... lesson learned!
