I don't have any idea why this would or can happen, so I guess take it as a notice that you probably should take a look at the log files and delete them (Riot Games/League of Legends/Logs/LeagueClient Logs for me).

External link →Thanks for bringing this up! One of our plugins had an outage recently, and it looks like the logging for that is a bit too much. We are working with the team to limit the size of the log files, we do not want log files this large!
