I'm not sure if this bothers many people, but so many voice lines are missing for so many champions. For example, Kai'sa voice lines for when she misses her W such as "Dammit! Take your time, Kai'Sa." or "Dammit! Dammit!!!" haven't been in the game since she got her hotfix buff. Also her voice lines when she kills an enemy with w have not been in the game for ages as well. Also her voice lines when she eats honeyfruit have not been around for ages.

Another example of missing voice lines are Yasuo's voice when he dashes, Yasuo's first q.

Kayn is also missing many voice lines, whenever he kills a ranged or melee champion, either Rhaast or Kayn are supposed to say something, but these voice lines have been missing since his release.

Upon killing a melee champion: "These are the strong? Pathetic."

Upon killing a ranged champion: "With each kill, the shadows grow deeper."

Couple thoughts to share.

  1. Yeah we've been standardizing the way we implement lines, using https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/08/tech-giving-champions-context/ That doesn't mean that all the old lines are in the CAC, but new champions are implemented that way.

  2. Even while we've had the CAC, we've also had a bunch of lines per champion that are manually hooked up in some clever ways, using server scripts, or triggered by the planets aligning in some specific way. Those clever ways are much more likely to break and not be noticed, as the code and scripts change.

  3. When a category of lines from the CAC breaks, it's easy to notice, easy to fix, and obviously high priority. But when a specific line on a specific champion from a specific situation breaks, those are no longer true.

So we're definitely doing our best to make VO in league much less fragile moving forward, by implementing most/all lines in the CAC moving forward. I'm not personally involved in identifying and prioritizing fixes for older lines, so I don't have info in my brain today about what that looks like.

If you're reading this Jag, there are also a large amount of VO lines still absent after I told you about it in April and some of those were SUPPOSED to stay in from what I've been told (the honeyfruit lines, primarily) but aren't showing up in-game. Her growl on taunt is missing as well at least on Bullet Angel (and I can confirm this from personal testing).

I think when I sent you the info in April you got the lines we were talking about mixed up, because the ones I was referring to (honeyfruit, missing ping etc.) were on PBE but never made it to live or have stopped working since.

I'm guessing the VFX artists iterated explicitly for gameplay reasons at the time. The spell interactions are still pretty clear, so I don't think we'd unnecessarily amp particles now - that tends to add up to a lot more noise in-game.

I'll pass along this thread to a VO engineer to look into any missing lines.
