I think most people who’s watched LoL eSports for a while will agree that Faker is the GOAT, even if they haven’t watched since the beginning of his career. However, I saw someone in another thread earlier trying to argue that Faker isn’t even in the conversation, let alone the undisputed GOAT. To me, this was a ludicrous claim, but it got me thinking: is there anyone else in the pro scene that might have a claim to the GOAT title? It does sometimes feel like this claim, even if valid, dominates the conversation, and an alternate opinion is immediately shut down even before they have a chance to explain. Some possible candidates off the top of my head:

-Rookie: has a Worlds title, insane longevity like Faker, a top 2-3 midlaner in the LPL for most of his career even if team success didn’t follow. But only 1 international title and 2 LPL titles

-Uzi: arguably the GOAT ADC, an MSI title and 2 Worlds finals. But career cut short by injury/contract jail, no Worlds titles

-Ruler: another arguable GOAT ADC, Worlds&MSI title, 3 domestic titles in a row, if he continues this level of performance for another year or two I could see him making a claim for the GOAT. But feels a bit short at the moment

-BeryL: only player other than the prime SKT members to win multiple Worlds titles as a starting player&qualify for 3 consecutive Worlds finals. But career is much shorter compared to everyone else & individually not as impressive of a player.

I’m curious to hear if anyone actually believes that Faker is not the GOAT of League, and if so, who is in their opinion.

Someone other than faker? Oh you mean the 5 role multiple season challenger who could bench the entire ranked player base? The one and only T1 big tonka T?!

I know this has nothing to do with the prompt, but if we’re talking about the GOATs of the game (rather than the GOATs of the sport), you could make a case that Tyler is the second most important player of all time.

Maybe for americans lol

True, true. That’s my bad, I didn’t mean to sound so American-centric. I suppose DOPA would be more impactful internationally, right?

That would be sad.

I mean it in the sense that Twitch streaming is as important to the game as the eSports scene.

If you include negative impact in important, sure.

Agreed, I used a neutral term for just that reason.

Society needs better role models :(

Between Bernie, AOC, and humble Calvin Klein model Midbeast, I’m comfortable with my role models.
