I don't think it's as "obvious" as you assume.
My comment wasn't that the symbols had never been seen. Players have been calling out the symbols since closed beta. My comment about the hint was related to making a connection between the symbols and the regions. Despite knowing 9 of the 10 regions and having seen the symbols there were large portions of the community discussing the possible regions for the 10th region slot.

I was never under that impression.
There is a difference between noticing the symbols and directly connecting them to the regions in our game. As evidence by the weekly discussions on reddit and twitter about 10th region possibilities.
Even after my comment on Swim's stream and your extensive youtube video we still had lively discussion on this topic.
And discussion is good. Theory crafting is good. I made the comment to inspire more discussion.
