s Hi, everyone!
s I'm Dave Gaskin, game director and executive producer for Legends of Runeterra.
s For today's Dev Snapshot, I want to take a moment to check in
s on where we're at, as well as share
s some thoughts about what's next for the game and our community.
s This year, we've stepped up our efforts to keep you more informed through
s livestreams and direct interactions with devs and we want to continue that.
s It's a spicy question.
s You just wanted to mention Bar! I see you.
s Patch will be her soon™!
s Welcome back to Community Card Kitchen, where we are making a card with you, the community.
s So you can expect to see more
s regular communication from either myself or another member of the LoR team.
s And you'll even have an opportunity to contribute topics for future dev
s snapshot videos like these.
s But more on that later.
s For now, let's talk about the main reason we're here today.
s We learned a lot in the past year or so, and I want to share with you
s how even thinking about those lessons
s and how that impacts our plans moving forward.
s We've been paying close attention to how you play LoR and enjoy its content.
s We've given a lot of thought to how to keep you excited moving forward.
s When I wrote about how we're refocusing on PvP,
s our team was wrestling with big Path of Champions plans
s that require significant investment to complete.
s And over the past year,
s we've learned that you already find the Path of Champions compelling.
s So we're continuing our focus on getting more PVE content out there
s with new systems like the Monthly Challenge,
s and even more endgame for the mode.
s You helped us realize that our approach can and should land more in the middle
s rather than a laser focus on either PVE or PVP.
s Speaking of PVP.
s Now that we've rebuilt our competitive ecosystem
s with Daily Rumbles, Runeterra Opens, and a new path to worlds,
s we've seen a lot of positive response to the new ways to compete.
s We learned that there's a lot of interest
s in frequent community connected tournaments and events.
s So we'll continue to create solid tools for Gauntlets and Tournaments,
s and we will continue to partner more closely with the community to run these events.
s We've also seen that you appreciate rapid and responsive
s live balance to keep things fresh,
s and then you enjoy getting new ways to play like Standard,
s Free Build, and other modes.
s So we're maintaining our new release cadence with monthly balance refreshes
s and expansion sets, and looking to explore new game modes whenever we can.
s Delivering a great game effectively is our highest priority
s and we believe this current release cadence,
s plus a close partnership with our community, has been successful
s in keeping LoR healthy and will continue to bring the hype.
s But to keep this cadence sustainable for the long haul, we need to focus on
s the things we believe matter most and will help the game thrive in the long term.
s Our priorities around what we're making for the game
s can and will evolve to serve current and future players,
s and it's critical that we invest our time and energy in the right places.
s LoR has more limited resources now than we did at launch,
s and so we've narrowed our focus in
s on supporting core pieces that maintain game health and also enable us
s to continue experimenting with ways to keep gameplay fresh and enjoyable.
s We know that some of you are missing more frequent updates in areas
s like boards, guardians and voicelines.
s "Yes, my friend, we hunt as one."
s They add a level of personalization and immersion to the game
s and we want to balance that with prioritizing core gameplay
s and experiments for exciting new features
s that make Legends of Runeterra a game you love to return to again and again.
s And that means targeting thoughtful and intentional VO design.
s And we're even working on bringing a lot of that great cosmetic content
s from previous passes to you via a new personal shop.
s And while we've heard the request for one global server shard,
s after some investigation and experimentation,
s we found that this just doesn't seem like the right way to restore cross-shard play.
s It's a bit too risky and it strains our team resources.
s It's not a forever no, just not a right now.
s We want to be as transparent as possible here
s because we're confident that a gameplay first approach
s is what empowers us to continue to serve you,
s our incredibly passionate core audience.
s There's no question LoR’s changed over the last year.
s The team, the game, and everything around it.
s And there's no question it will continue to change.
s We want to make sure that these changes serve you, and that they always stay true
s to who you are and what you love about the game,
s including what you partner with us to create.
s We're still as committed as ever to the LoR community, and we're excited
s for more opportunities to partner with you for upcoming Community Card kitchens,
s influencer-led expansion events, and community-focused esports.
s By the end of the year,
s you'll be seeing some new Path of Champions endgame content,
s and by then you'll even be able to participate in experiments
s with a long awaited successor to our beloved Expeditions on the horizon.
s We're excited to keep experimenting with you
s and build a bright future together for LoR.
s So let us know what's on your mind.
s We want to know how you're feeling
s and what you want to see from us in the next Dev Snapshot,
s which you should expect in about 3 to 4 months.
s Send us your biggest questions on Twitter or Reddit,
s and we'll try our best to answer them.
s Thanks for watching. And good luck, have fun.
