So over the course of the last month, I've seen a lot of people make posts about the "impossible" levels of difficulty when it comes to late game content. I've also seen people try to explain how to get through those tougher sections of the game (f*ck you, Anivia) before everyone's phones become substitutes for ICBM's. Figured I'd throw my 2 cents in and give some tips on how to handle late game content to make people's lives easier. Step one is in the title.

Breathe before you walk in: Far too often, I see people saying "My favorite champ can't beat this adventure, therefore it's obviously unbalanced!" There's over 60 champs in PoC. Not all of them will be good. Some of them are very niche and in desperate need of reworking/retooling/retiring. But if you go back in Reddit far enough, you'll find all kinds of posts from people who beat Liss with only 3 stars, Swain before Defense Spending, and 6.5 nightmares with 3 stars. Unfortunately, just like in LoL, sometimes you need to find and play the meta. BUT if you're stubborn beyond stubborn, there's a player named Zarkkast who has beaten pretty much every game mode with every champion and has created spreadsheets to show who, how, builds, how hard it was... it's easily a top resource in this subreddit for finding answers to harder adventures.

Learn the champions: This doesn't just mean "Ah, Lux:I is GOOD without Sprite, but unstoppable with it!" This means "If given the choice between Sorcery, Grander Plaza, and Stabilize, which is better on this champ?" Far too many times, I've watched runs get trashed because I didn't take the extra 3 seconds to understand whether or not a power is actually compatible to my build. With that being said...

Take what you're given: You know what sucks when you're running Shock and Awe? Never hitting a 1 drop in your rewards. Sometimes, this is the reality of random powers and rewards. Sometimes, you just have to learn to adapt and find the next best answer. May take an extra turn to get through, but sometimes it leads to an alternate, unexpected wincon that you weren't expecting.

Finally, be realistic: The Aurelion Sol adventure was balanced around 3 star champions. Lissandra was balanced around 3 star champions. Every 4.5+ star adventure since then is built around the idea that you're bringing a 4 star or higher champion into it. Can 3 stars beat it? Yes. Is it going to be hard? Absolutely. Does that make it unbalanced and unfair? No. Learn the matchups. Maybe don't take a champ that relies on 1 damage pings into Swain expecting to dog walk it.

Good luck to all. Do your research.

Great advice. Also, you need to think about the gameplan you have vs the final encounters early on and draft accordingly. For example, when I was using original Lux at 2 stars with chemtech duplicator vs the 4.5 asol, I already knew I would win the game if I could start the turn with 6 mana and Lux in play. That meant I never took any upgrade that just made her more powerful, none of that was relevant. The only thing I needed was to survive to 6 mana and keep her alive.

This meant taking an Ionia support champion. Inforget which one it was some terrible one I never played once in the adventure but all I cared about was getting access to cheap Ionia stun and recall spells in shops to stall until 6 mana.

I also took any cheap defensive spell that could generate units so I could build my board while stalling.

For powers i took anything that could stall. I passed up incredible powers like “double all your slow spells” that are amazing with lux1 whenever I could get some spell that would stun or frostbite enemies instead, or generate dudes I could block early with and pump later with a mass buff spell.

For relics I used everfrost and warding charm so I could develop lux while stunning a potential attacker and she could be protected from removal.

Asol normally needs to get rushed down but in chemtech lux’s case you can just survive until you can combo off and win. If that’s your plan, all you need to do is survive. Draft accordingly.

All the adventures and champions are like this. Figuring out your game plan and what holes you need to fill, then filling them. This is also why 2-stars kindred wrecks Lisandra with 2x everfrost and guardian angel. You can just stall her out easily until she runs out of resources. All you’re missing is a win condition, and you have a whole adventure to find some.
