Appreciate this thread, and I will definitely report this feedback! I also know there was also some discrepancies beyond this between what was announced in the article and what is in game, so I have this flagged out as a bug as well

Good morning! After talking with the teams I have an update to provide on the current MMR/ranking system that is present in our version of the game vs the Korean version…

In the Korean version of the game, changes made to MMR/ranking were not general system updates, but were put in place based on direct data surrounding the performance of players after many PvP seasons in the game. Because of this, and the length of the competitive season, the decision was made to lower the rank requirements as the score gap between players across ranks widened.

Although we are starting Season 1 of PvP with the same original ranking spread from Korea, there are already plans in place to directly adjust Season 2’s rank tiers based on the outcomes of players from Season 1 — we are using the same baseline system to start so it can be shifted accordingly. Players will still start at the beginning of the Silver Rank as they do in the Korean version of the game, despite the MMR numbers being different.

We appreciate and understand the concern from those who do not want new players to feel defeated or stuck at lower tiers, so we will be watching closely over the first few weeks of the season. Additionally, because of the number of players that are already participating in PvP, we will also be increasing the number of players that can reach Master rank up to 200 in a coming update. While this is a high tier change, we hope to remain flexible when it comes to responding to the needs of the playerbase and will continue listening to community feedback.

We appreciate that our passionate PvP players are as excited about the game and want it to succeed as much as we do — while learnings from other regions are always top of mind, the team is also striving to fit the unique needs of our audience, so thank you for bearing with us while the playerbase takes root and we learn from our users.

No; things are guaranteed to change at season 2, but we will still be investigating early in this season to see how they begin to shake out and if changes need to be made right away

Welp, that doesn’t seem to be working as intended, then. I will investigate further

I do not have an update at this time – Competitive PvP has been out for less than a week, and we are monitoring

After the season ends in a few sort months, we will be taking data and learnings from PvP season 1 and using them to adjust the MMR system for our playerbase accordingly
