Hello, I talked to you for a while Friday night then never played it until Sat and we never went back into PAX today (this year feels a bit anti-climactic).
But, I played with 3 people and took some notes to share...

- The challenge of aiming an analog stick quickly plus the cast time feels too punishing. With the quick running around, twitch aiming with a stick is enough of a skill to work on imo. Only the ult should have a cast time.

- This seems like a no-brainer to me but this game could be split into 2 modes. The damaged based killing, and a smash like knocking people off/out. Admittedly I don't know exactly how smash works, but many of these ablities already promote just knocking people away without bothering to use focused attacks, and then other skills that allow a quick recovery back to land.

- the lava comes in pretty fast. With only 3 people we felt cramped too soon

- lava is... overused? another/more themes would be nice

- the zoom level when mages are next to each other is too close. I can't keep track of where lava and just darting away can kill myself.

The probably goes without saying section...

- wizard model variety (although might suggest classes and change expectations)

- name entry needs help (the resetting to the top at the least)

and probly more to come later.

Also, turning off xinput worked fine with my 4 PS3 controls and 1 PS4. (scp driver and DS4windows)

Hey night!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have some responses for you:

- The challenge of aiming an analog stick quickly plus the cast time feels too punishing. With the quick running around, twitch aiming with a stick is enough of a skill to work on imo. Only the ult should have a cast time.
I strongly disagree with this. The design of MageQuit is based entirely on anticipation. Eliminating wind up times on most spells would reduce MageQuit to a shallow twitchy action game. Trust me on this one. My first attempt to make this game had no cast times and it felt mindless.

- This seems like a no-brainer to me but this game could be split into 2 modes. The damaged based killing, and a smash like knocking people off/out. This will sort of be achieved by some of the new maps we plan to add -- ones with instant death hazards and ones without. It seems to me like creating 2 different modes and letting people choose them would create unnecessary choices and confusion for the players.

- the lava comes in pretty fast. With only 3 people we felt cramped too soon
The lava comes in proportional to the number of players remaining. That would explain why a 3 player map got small quickly. This feeling is intentional on the maps that have it for the sake of increasing intensity.

- lava is... overused? another/more themes would be nice
100% agree. We are planning to have 10 elements eventually, and I've already decided which maps are going to be rethemed to fit the new elements. Essentially, there will be 2 maps per element (fire being lava levels).

- the zoom level when mages are next to each other is too close. I can't keep track of where lava and just darting away can kill myself.
There was a point in time when I would've agreed with this assessment. However, watching the reaction of crowds when a match is down to 2 and the camera is zoomed in unnecessarily has convinced me otherwise. It is vital for the game's hilarity and intensity.

100% agree.

- name entry needs help (the resetting to the top at the least)
I've heard this before, however the checkmark for indicating that you are done selecting your name is at the top of your name selector so if I kept the selection on the same letter you just chose, players would forget to go back up to the top to complete their names and be even more confused by the flow of name selection.

and probly more to come later.
Good! I am always open to more suggestions!

Okay I remember who you were now and awesome! Thanks for following up and letting me know!
