Hello!

This is an issue with FMOD, the audio library we are using. I found that disabling Realtek workaround on the Celeste Steam forum as they are using FMOD as well. I've added a task to our Trello board to see if a newer version of FMOD has an actual fix for this. I will respond here again and let you know what I find out! (Might be a few days since we are wrapping up PAX and driving home yet)

Thanks for reaching out!

Hey, I did some more research on this error. I'm wondering if you have any NAHIMIC processes in your task manager and if you could disable those. I've read that is another cause of FMOD failures. If this is true for you, this fix should allow you to play with sound.

Thanks!

Alienware Audio can also cause this issue if you don't have any NAHIMIC processes running: https://forum.unity.com/threads/fmod-failed-to-initialize.602845/

Sorry for the response spam, but our audio guy sent over the following as well:

Right click the speaker next to your clock in the bottom right.
Select 'Playback Devices'
Select your Default Device (the device with the green check mark) and hit 'Properties'
Select the 'Advanced' tab.
If 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device' is checked, uncheck it.
Set your Default Format to 24 bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)

@TheYueshuya, you tried all of those options above? I'm going to open up a ticket with FMOD and see if they have any guidance. I'll respond back here once I hear back.
