Hi WestTideZ!
I haven't used remote play myself, but I know others have done it successful for MageQuit (it's a feature 100% provided by Steam). You may already know this, but remote play works by allowing players to connect "virtual" controllers to someone else's PC, and then streams their screen to you.
As far as I know, there are a couple ways to do this in MageQuit.
1. Online: the person actually running the game can use mouse and keyboard or controller to go into Online. Once in the online lobby, other players connected over remote play should be able to join by hitting A on their controllers (or X on PS4 controller, etc). This should allow you to play online games against others if that's what you want to do. However keep in mind that the remote players will likely see double latency (since the game would already be online and then the display has to be sent to them)
2. Couch: if you are only looking to play with your friends doing remote play and everyone will be using controllers, it may be easier for you to go into Couch and all join at that point with A.
Also, last I heard, Steam Remote Play only supports up to 4 players because of an XInput limitation (we have the same issue with Steam Link because it uses similar tech). THAT REMINDS ME, MAKE SURE XINPUT IS TURNED ON IN THE GAME SETTINGS!
Hopefully they helps! If you are still having trouble getting things working let me know, and I can get on and try it myself.
