@Garth:

I am a bit surprised that there is no activity from Lexie or other staff for a week now.
No planned update either. Theros basic lands availability still not solved, no news, no new events in sight...
Why?

Hi. I'm here lurking, as usual. We talk about updates and new events when we are ready to do so. If there isn't anything to share, it's going to be a quiet week. Sorry about that!

As for the Theros basic lands, they're on peoples' accounts now. If yours didn't show up for some reason, please contact support because that needs to be addressed.

The current big news is MTG Worlds happening soon. You can follow those updates/hype here.

So... business as usual is what you're saying?

Exactly this. As kind as Lexie is when she has an appearance, the big rants and complaints of the community have never been adressed here.

To a certain degree I understand this - going into detail with this community would be like opening pandora's box for them :P.

On the other hand it's dissapointing from our point of view - there are topics going around since beta which aren't getting a single comment for months ...

If a post hasn't gotten a reply, it's probably due to one of these things:

  • What I have to say doesn't make anything better or add to the conversation in any way. I used to jump in on shuffler threads, but did that help? Did it change anyone's mind? Did it make that person feel better? Nope.
  • What players are asking or talking about is something that I actually can't discuss. For example, I can't tell you about new things if we haven't announced said thing.
  • The post isn't actual constructive feedback, it's hostile or trolling. Note that this is against the Code of Conduct. There is never a need to insult each other, employees, be rude about things, etc. Being nice on the internet, y'all.
  • It's a thread that doesn't need my reply. If you're posting your opinion on X mechanic, or saying that X deck is stupid, that's your opinion.
  • Someone already answered your question. I appreciate helpful/nice community members so, so, so much. :heart:

That being said, I read almost every thing that gets posted on here even if I'm not replying. I then take that feedback, those discussions, etc and pass it on to whoever should hear it. Player feedback is something we greatly value.

Although I applaud the keeping quiet if you have nothing say. Having nothing to say is worry some.

Having nothing to say isn't worrisome, it just means that we don't have anything to say right now. :slightly_smiling_face:

Would love to know more about the Ranked Draft schedule if possible :)
Sorry if obnoxious

Those dates are currently accurate. We're finishing up the event details for the February game update, and we'll have more info next week.

@DoctorKuhn:

SINCE you're here Lexie, Is there ANY news on Pioneer? Sucks that it's almost completely off the radar in terms of what Wizard's outlined for the year. I'm assuming it's not the case but I wanted to see if there's anything on the most popular format that would generate ridiculous amounts of revenue for wizards.

That is definitely still on our radar, it’s only been a couple months since we mentioned it last. It’s a long road to get to Pioneer. Give it time. :slight_smile:

Exactly, stale, nothing new and exciting, coming up from the January Game update, nothing more to add...

What do you mean by this? If you have constructive feedback, feel free to share. The January update definitely had something new and exciting... It brought a whole new card set to the game (plus some other awesome stuff). You'll have to wait until February for the next State of the Game.

While Pioneer would be awesome, it can't possibly happen anytime soon. Even if they only code the relevant cards without new animations etc., they are just too many. Remember, every other week a new forgotten card rises from unplayability to a tier 1 deck. Who would have thought Inverter of Truth would be part of a tier 1 deck a month ago?
It’s ok that it would take a while. No one is upset about that. It would be nice however to have that actually be a goal. We don’t even know if the mixture of sets they are putting together are Pioneer legal. We could have Kamigawa mixed with Farexia mixed with Ahmonket. We have no idea what’s going on or where we are headed. I honestly wonder why they are forbidden to work towards Pioneer.

We're not forbidden to work towards Pioneer. Pioneer Set Remasters are in concept right now. Check out the November and January State of the Games for more info.

In Concept

Yes it did Mostly about the new set but that is to be expected, but a weekly Status report wouldn't hurt, especially on things from past Game updates that have barely been touch in the latest game update, like only mention of updating "social features 1.0" in this update is:
"We want to give a special callout to Friends Messaging, which will allow you to directly message your friends in games. This is the next major feature to our social functionality that players should expect, and while we don't have an exact date yet, you should expect it sooner rather than later."
That's it, nothing about easily adding friends in game or expanding on the few emotes or anything meaningful.
Nothing About other formats but a little blimp about Pioneer. with a few image with meaningful info and earlier sets will be avaible in historic if at all.
Makes the whole: MTG Beyond Standard section of the November update look like it's taken a back seat.

Ah, gotcha. I'll chat with the team about giving at least a little update on things we have previously talked about in State of the Games, even if they're super far out. I don't think weekly updates are on the horizon because it would be a lot of "no updates at this time". I know that what I'm saying is frustrating, but sometimes you just have to wait for details. If something isn't ready to share, it isn't ready to share.
