So I get that you can receive a wildcard.. But isn't that just the only exciting thing about opening packs? the chance that you get the card you need is so small, that there is 0 enjoyment in opening the packs? And wildcards are pretty boring.. just currency.
Well, not for me. I really enjoy turning over the rare, it's a fun moment. That said, I don't buy packs with gold, the packs I open come from the prerelease offer (the 50 packs bundle), the Mastery pass, and Limited event rewards.
I do agree that opening a wildcard feels disappointing. Which is really strange, as it is the best thing that you can open. But there it is, I'm waiting for some interesting rare or mythic, and this wildcard pops up. Go away, I already have a ton of your kind!

Same haha. I like opening packs for the cards, even when I don't get the card I want. And for some reason my brain doesn't process that Wildcard=whatever card I want. It reads it as "not a card bleh".

Lexie, I think this is the same think when we open a birthday/Christmas gift and if it is something we want, we get excited but if it is the same amount of cash that thing would cost, we don't get as excited. There is some interesting psychology going on in that reaction.

Very true! Though I genuinely like getting money as a gift, I don't equate that money to a specific item so it's not quite as exciting.

If someone gave me a candy bar I'd be like "heck yeah candy!" But if someone just gave me a dollar, I don't say "This is redeemable for a candy bar!" I just go "oh cool a dollar" and it goes into my wallet. And then it sits in my wallet, because idk what to spend it on.... Kinda like my Wildcards rn. I'm sitting on quite a few simply because I'm not sure what to make next. I open packs just to open packs because dang I like opening packs. :joy:

I prefer draft over opening packs
positive- you get to pick what you want and you get more cards for the same price
5 packs 5k gold 40 cards
3 packs 5k gold 57-58 cards

negative - you don't get wild card tracker points for more wildcard redemption and you don't get 5 promised rare/mythics unless you get lucky and the bots don't grab them
packs are only good after you have a base collection to start building decks out of

Eh I enjoy drafting occasionally, but typically I'm a creature of habit and typically just play the same couple Constructed decks over and over. I open packs because I think it's fun and fun is more important than value, to me.
