Hey everyone,

Two months ago Mark Rosewater posted an article to the mothership in which set boosters were announced: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/set-boosters-2020-07-25

In this post it was also mentioned that starting with Zendikar Rising, 1 in every 7.4 rares will be a mythic rare instead of the current 1 in every 8. I've been looking online to see whether these drop rates would also be updated for MTG Arena, but I could not find anything on the subject. So, does anyone know whether the drop rate of mythic rares will be updated with Zendikar Rising? As a follow up question: will this affect only packs from Zendikar Rising and onward, or will the rate for all packs be updated? The latter is something that obviously can't be done for paper packs, but is possible with digital Arena packs.

I believe it would make more sense to keep the rate consistent among packs, but simply knowing what will happen will be a huge help already. From the client you can open an informational page about drop rates (https://magic.wizards.com/en/promotions/drop-rates), this rate currently shows a 1:8 rate, but the update also didn't happen yet. It might be that it will be updated after rotation and that I'm simply a few hours too early in asking, but since I haven't heard anything about it at all I rather wanted to ask around to see if I had missed something than wait until the update is done and potentially not learn anything new.

Thanks for your help in advance!

An easier way of thinking about it:

As in the past, each regular rare appears twice as often as each mythic rare.

Since ZNR has different numbers of regular rares and mythic rares compared to past sets, the overall ratio is a bit different (with a mythic rare being a bit more likely).
